I have ripped some of my CDs without any problem, but 20 procent of the cds I've been having some problems with. Sometimes the ripping starts, the bar is on screen but it stays at 0% and then it lands on the CD ripper screen with a button at the bottom saying "Restart". Other times when starting ripping (bar still on 0%) the screen turns black. Is there anyone who has experienced the same thing? And is there a solution?
I have about 500 to rip so far I have done just over 200 with approximately a 30% fail rate . I have tried 3 different cd players. Some will rip cds that others wont. Iam awaiting a fourth Asus unit from Amazon.
I have now have succesfully ripped aprox. 320 cds from 400. Aproximately 80 will not rip but will play through the dmp. Some of these are double albums where one cd rips and the other does not. All cds are in excellent condition. Can any one please advise me as to what is happening? Thank you.
I just use dbPoweramp and copy them to the internal storage. But now all of the songs show with the same album art.
To me it looks like all your tracks are in one, huge directory, with the album art always being the same, e.g. folder.jpg, so that all the tracks share the same one.
You are completely right. I recopied everything in the original folder structure and it works perfectly. Thank you!
Would I be correct in thinking , this idicates that the DMPA6 ripping software is inadequate and needs updating?
I don't know what is it principle of work; so I cannot express myself. I can only say what I ususally do: 1. rip the whole CD into one FLAC + CUE file and embed the album art in the FLAC 2. put every FLAC + CUE into one subfolder (named as the album itself) under the artist folder. My software, though, already can treat the FLAC + CUE as single entities, say, as if they were inside a folder (that is: treats the CUE as a directory), so that I could, theoretically, put all the albums of a single artist inside one folder; but I don't. Now, if the A6 rips a CD into one specific folder (or sub folder) it would work. Nevertheless, shall I own an A6, I wouldn't rip my CDs with it, but still do on my PC for sake of better controlling the files and the metadata; and finally copy them to the A6 in a consistent way in terms of folder naming.
I think it would be naive to expect an Android app to match the features of software like dBpoweramp that have years of development & updates .. Considering that CD ripping is not the primary function of the A6 and that bugs get fixed (as long as they are reported) pretty quickly anyway, give them some slack.
You are absolutely right, IMO. Enough would have been: 1. Ensure as much as possible metadata retrieving from the internet 2. ask user interaction for artist/album/tracks naming if the above is unprecise / impossible (onscreen keyboard...?) 3. rip the CD in its folder (Artist => Album), or ask the user again.
"Warm Tip": Yesterday I ripped several CDs onto the SSD in the A6. I modified some file titles and moved (cut, paste) some files into Artist name folders. Today I am getting a "Warm Tip" - "The current song has expired and will play the next one automatically". Why am I getting this message? Did I do something I shouldn't have? I haven't ripped in awhile so this is new to me. I only rip a CD if the A6 can find the metadata but its nice to be able to edit files and folders. Running v1.2.30.
I have ripped a reasonable number of CDs on the A6 recently using the latest firmware. I have altered names of some CDs and added artist names. This I do before the rip using the edit functions on the ripper page. I move the ripped folders into Artist folders on the SSD using the Files copy/paste function. If the artist is new, I create the artist folder from scratch. On a few occasions I have altered album art or modified further artist names using the rename facilities at album or artist level after incorporation into Library. I haven't altered say folder names or artist names using editing at the Files level though. Anyway I have never seen the Warm Tip message you have, quite mystifying. Suggest you need to contact Eversolo direct.
Thanks for tip about editing on Ripper page. Will give it a try. Within FILES the editor provides text editing, copy, paste, delete, file & folder creation tools. Have you imported missing album art into Artist folders? I haven't yet figured out how to import images from the Internet other than using a USB key. The "warm tip" message has disappeared for now. All my recent rips seem to play properly now.
Good to hear things are better. If the A6 doesn't get album art, I go to MusicBrainz and usually find the art there. I download, resize to 500x500 version or so and put onto a USB stick and plug that into a powered hub plugged into the A6 which also has the optical drive connected. If all else fails then I photograph the CD cover and move that via USB stick. This art can be imported on the ripper page itself, or afterwards once the album is taken into the library. You just press on either the artist or album folders or icons and there are options to import art or to edit names .
Thanks again. MusicBrainz is interesting site but not that easy to use. I do a google search for images and save a copy to a usb stick. without a good search function within FILES, I'm getting good at scrolling up/down with my finger .
Possible explanation for "Warm Tip" pop up message...After ripping multiple CDs to the A6, its music management software works in the background to digest new metadata and populate directories in MUSIC (Artist, Album, etc.). If one tries to play a recently ripped album/track while this is going on, the Warm Tip message appears and nothing plays. After a few minutes (assuming the process is done) everything plays fine.
I have found that Artist name is missing from albums I've ripped. The A6 will fetch the album artwork, song titles and album title, but there is no Artist!
This is the case for me as well, almost all cd rips even from the beginning have had no apparent artist listed. So I have got used to manually entering the artist name in the main ripping screen, edit function on main title line. This then appends the artist name you enter to every track name. When incorporated into Library, then you will find the album under this artist name without issues.
It's weird it doesn't acquire it automatically as it does for the album; nevertheless it's a good thing you can edit/complete the metadata at rip-time directly on the A6.
