    Hello,

Curious what settings everyone is using for the Z8 in Roon. I think I hear some distortion but no clipping according to the Roon clipping indicator. Not sure if these settings are ideal or not or how to think about that. My path is streaming Qobuz via Mac Mini (Roon Advanced Audio Transport) > Z8 (CoreAudio Exclusive Mode)

    Private zone: No

    Exclusive mode: Yes

DSD playback strategy: Convert to PCM +

    MQA capabilities: Decoder and renderer

    Volume control: Fixed volume

    Resync Delay: Oms

Max sample rate (PCM): Up to 768kHz v

Max bits per sample (PCM): 32

    Zone grouping delay (ms): 0.00

    Clock master priority: Default

    Enable MQA core decoder: No

    Enable integer mode: Yes

Force max volume at playback start: No

    Use maximum Buffer size: No

    Use power-of-2 Buffer sizes: No

I am not familiar with how you play on the Z8 via Roon (the Z8 is a DAC, not a Roon endpoint) but, apart from this, the only thing that I would change is the "DSD playback strategy"; being the Z8 capable of playing DSD Native, I'd not do any conversion on DSD.

I have white noise at the start of DSD128 files, does anyone know the error and what can be done? o_O

What do you play them with?
I use a Raspberry Pi with moOde on it, and have tested DSD all the way up to DSD512, not a glitch, or hiss, or static.
It could be a matter of buffering in the player, or a setting for DSD... you play them native, I presume... but had to ask.
