Can not use/update/updrade newer versions of Kodi (19 and 20)

Well you can use kodi 19/20 but only in its native form. You cant install anything with a zip file (like addons or repositories). From what I understand it is because of the version of Android 11 being used on the Z20 Pro. I only tried kodi 20, but I believe 19 falls into this category as well.

Just curious if anyone has a work around for this. I was reading that if you unzip the addon you can then place all its files in the addon directory.. but I haven't tried it.. and not sure if it is the same with repositories.

Honestly this is a pretty bad issue that this media player can not use Kodi, one of the biggest media software there is.

With the Z20 pro, ZDMC (I think its called) was not installed on the player, should it have been?
If I remember right it was on my Z10 pro... or is there a place to download ZDMC?
    Thanks

I haven't tried ZDMC yet. What do you mean by 'theme'?
    Do you mean the skin?
Have you tried to add any addon or repository yet (especially via searching for a zip file)?

    Yes Theme = Skin.

I only tried changing the built-in skins but most skins try to install add-ons anyway. It just doesn't finish changing and reverts back. I am happy with HT4.0 so I don't care much about ZDMC or Kodi (can't access my USB HDD on Kodi).

I feel Android TV was a terrible choice for OS for this latest series. There is no streaming support so WTF do they gain by going Android TV. Should have gone plain Android 11 or so. Regardless, they need to make sure all apps can access the network, filesystem. This is unacceptable to not have basic IO support.

Agreed. I think I mentioned it before, but the Z20 is not an upgrade to the Z10, it's a downgrade.
With a huge library I needed the extra memory, thats the only reason I bought it. If there was a memory card upgrade or something like that for the z10, I would have went that route instead.
IMHO, HT4 is too limited. It needs more customization options, being able to easily edit metadata, delete files, addons, etc.. easily, is a must. That is why I use kodi with various addons.
I have no idea if rooting the box would allow for the better OS to be installed or if it would all work correctly.
