Z9X PRO Player in auto mode must read supported audio formats from TV EDID and downmix unsupported to LPCM 2.0.

Current behavior: Player always sends RAW bitstream to TV.

When AVR is off it sends DTS and DTS-HD to the TV, that doesn't support DTS.
As a result: video stops after 5sec of playback or even device freezes at the beginning of playback, drops video signal

Unable to replicate. Changing EDID on the fly from one that supports DTS to one that does not results in LPCM 2-Channel.

    DTS EDID (AVR):

    Non DTS EDID (Samsung TV):

Maybe the AVR is still presenting its EDID?

    Can you do the following:

    1. Switch on AVR, TV and Zidoo and confirm DTS playback.

    2. Turn off AVR and confirm DTS is still output in passthrough to TV

    3. Download an post your EDID here

    To Download EDID
    ================

    Settings/Display/Custom EDID/Save EDID

Save to a USB stick or network location.

Change the file extension from .bin to .txt to upload to the forum

(The forum won't accept .bin files)

I just tested passthrough on my amp.

When the amp is switched off, EDID changes from DTS support to no DTS support and the Zidoo correctly converts DTS/DTS-HD to 2-Channel LPCM.

    Amp On:

    Audio Data Block #1
    1 L-PCM, channels=8, rate=192,176,96,88,48,44.1,32kHz, bits=24,20,16
    7 DTS, channels=6, rate=96,88,48,44.1kHz, MBR=1536
    2 AC-3, channels=6, rate=48,44.1,32kHz, MBR=640
    11 DTS-HD, channels=8, rate=192,176,96,88,48,44.1kHz, AFCdv=3
    10 Enhanced AC-3, channels=8, rate=48,44.1kHz, AFCdv=3
    12 MAT, channels=8, rate=192,176,96,88,48,44.1kHz, AFCdv=3
    9 One Bit Audio, channels=6, rate=44.1kHz, AFCdv=0
    11 DTS-HD, channels=8, rate=192,176,96,88,48,44.1kHz, AFCdv=1

    Amp Off:

    Audio Data Block #1
    1 L-PCM, channels=2, rate=48,44.1,32kHz, bits=24,20,16
    2 AC-3, channels=6, rate=48,44.1,32kHz, MBR=640
    10 Enhanced AC-3, channels=8, rate=48,44.1,32kHz, AFCdv=1

I pasted it in EDID web parser - That is TV. Only dd, dd+, LPCM and atmos w/ dd+

Yep - as you say, that doesn't support DTS - I have no idea why your box does not recognise that.

As I say, here, if I either change EDID with the Vertex or simply switch the amp off into passthrough, DTS is converted to LPCM correctly so I can't replicate what you're seeing.

Are you on the latest firmware?

Yes, latest beta w/o gapps. v1.0.75

Is it possible, that OTA update didn't come well? Is there way to make clean flash?

I have received it with gapps fw on board. And then updated from file to 1.0.75 w/o gapps. Should I flash same file and then reset factory settings?

I would flash the file from the firmware page - that's the latest I have. Factory reset is a good precaution.

    Two quick questions:

When you turn the amp off, does HDMI resync on the Zidoo? Screen goes blank then comes back again?

And just to check - sorry I have to ask, but Custom EDID is not on?

When I turn off avr, it resyncs but still receiving edid from avr. I turn everything off and then power on tv, then player

With Z9x it was the same

Mine's a bit different - power off AVR, it resyncs and EDID now comes from the TV.

And in audio settings description section it lists exactly formats from tv. So it reads them well. But once I start file with dts or dts-hd track - it plays 5sec with audio, then gets quiet and video stops. If you wait 5sec more - player freezes and video signal disappears. And the only way - power off button

Ok, that's weird - so that means the EDID is being read ok...

Is it possible to connect direct to the TV and test that?

I thought about that. Will try tomorrow

But I had z9x connected through avr and chromecast too. In auto mode. Worked fine every time
