Hi DragonFly. What do think about video playback ( picture quality) of this box compared to others you have used? I want to buy a box which can play mkv files smoothly with best picture quality and it also can passthrough DTS MA and DOLBY HD.I read your review already but I didn't see you mention about video quality and hd sound passthrough. And then, about the video quality, We use chip, Mstar 9180, Mstar is the biggest LCD supplier in the world, its global sales has been up to 60% in the consecutive 5 years. And its sales has occupied more than75% in the mainland of China. So,it should be the greatest one .
Installed the new firmware.............and it left me with some mixed emotions (and numerous crashes): Even though I started with 10.0.08, I did not get an OTA message, nor did I succeed in updating it manually (OTA). So I download the binary. Don't know what the OTA does but upgrading from a downloaded binary erases the users' data. A possible serious bug is starting out (initializing from scratch) with a wired connection. I've tried this three times (flashing the binary again) to make sure. When initializing Google Play (with or without an account) with a wired connection it fails. Google Play is unable to connect. The moment you connect to Wifi, Google Play works. Speaking of a wired connection. When connected through Wifi and after plugging in the ethernet cable, the Wifi module disables itself. However, when connected through cable and it's unplugged, the Wifi module does NOT enable itself and does not connect to a previously connected signal. Correction: Sometimes it does reconnect, but it is not consistent I can use Miracast fine when connect through Wifi, but NOT when a cable is plugged in because of the disabled Wifi. This is very annoying. The android phone I'm using (Oppo Find 5) may be the cause but I'm not certain. I DID manage to get the [Home] button on the remote to start the taskswitcher, which can be very handy sometimes. Unfortunately the behavior is not consistent. On many occasions where it should work it fails to respond. This could be related to updates from Google Play, especially the Google Play Services which needs an update if installing the Calender or Mail App. Not only does the taskswitcher not work anymore, the build in Browser also refuses to start When closing an App and going back to the main menu, the Launcher frequently opens in "edit mode" instead of the standard main menu. Haven't got a clue how to make the "Custom" App to work. Created a folder called "custom" (at least that's what I could understand from the "warm tips" ???) in the root and placed some apk's there.............and nothing happened I wish I had something positive to tell you but I don't.....yet. I can't make head nor tail from you changelog, even though I'm technically literate. This leaves me with my last suggestion: With all due respect, hire a good Chinese to English translator (with a technical background) . If you want to show the world "we are coming", you'll need to do it professionally. Some of your Chinese to English translations in the changelog AND the Zidoo UI don't make sense at all. I really do appreciate your efforts in trying to distinguish yourself from all the other Android boxes out there. Listen to users (not only me) and try to answer as many questions asked in this forum. I still don't know how to make the TV control buttons to work

So your box had not recevied the messeage. and the standard binary MstarUpgrade.bin(include all partitions) will earse users'data.(OTA zip package will not).Sorry for the inconvenience for you. 2,About googleplay, we found "connection error" Occurs in everywhere, include android phone, android pad, and all over the world. It's really a serious problem.but it with it's own related. As you found, It looks like when googleplay started, it will check whether wifi on or off, if wifi is off, though it think network dosen't work. Anyhow, we will found a best solution for this bug. 3,wifi and wire. We have start study this . Maybe we would make them Single effect. when wifi up, wire down. wire up then wifi down. 4,I checked this, I can use Miracast when box connect through wire. Please make sure box and phone have connected the same route. 5,Home button, we will test. next time we will build in the latest version Googleplay service apk. we'll test browser. 6,By now we have not reproduce this problem. Could you describe more details? About closing app cause launcher opens in "editmode". thanks. 7,Custom app. It help user install tons of app more easilly through U-disk. Please created custom folder in U-disk, not root of system. when you plug in this U-disk, something should happen...

Returning to "Edit Mode" Base Settings: Screensaver: off, Theme: 0, key sound: off, use featured data: off From the main menu start an App. Play around some Exit the app with [Return] Sometimes (but not always) the Main menu reutrns in screensaver mode (floating tiles) When entering the [OK] button - and this is crucial - to stop the tiles from floating, the menu enters edit mode (see attached file). If the users waits a little for the screensaver mode to restore itself, the edit mode does not happen. 2. Custom APK installer My bad. Didn't read properly. When placing apk's on an external USB flash drive, it works 3. Broken build-in Browser and Taskswitcher (home button) Did several re-flashings to retrace my steps and initially thought an updated version of Google Play Services (as requested by Gmail) was the cause. After several ours of testing, it appeared browser/taskswitcher functionality gets broken after using the build-in Clean up app. After using the Task Killer and Cache Cleaner both the browser and the taskswitcher don't work anymore. 4. MiraCast/Airplay Well.......ehhhhhhh, buggy. Tried several android phones + iPhone5s and they do not initially find the Zidoo when it's wired (on the same router). It only works if the connected device has "seen" the Wifi connection first. When connected through Wi-Fi it can mirror an android device, but it's buggy. The miracast app displays many artifacts and often crashes. It needs a reboot to work again. Also Airplay (on the iPhone) doesn't always find the Zidoo, but when it does, it is somewhat slow. To eliminate the above shortcomings I need a steady wired connections, but as I said, devices fail to see the Zidoo. To eliminate failed devices or software, I tried Airplay on Kodi, using a wired OpenElec HTPC. All phones could send images and video's just fine 5. Remaining Questions Can the remote buttons be remapped in Kodi? The remote is fine for Android apps but lacks some functionality in Kodi. It would be nice if the user could add some functionality. Fortunately, using the Kemap-editor plugin, remote keys can be edited. The plugin registers the numeric keys as 61489, 61490 etc. Unfortunately, The PageUp, PageDown and the Home key are not registered. For the third time. How to get the TV-controls working? Can the remote buttons be mapped in Android (pageup/down could really be used when browsing) Can the mouse-pointer be changed by the user? It looks really cheap/cartoonish Default installed (and updated) Google apps like Gmail, Maps etc. don't appear in the appmanager. Is this done intentionally? Can the device go to sleep, instead of only on/off? Can the scrolling weather location text be disabled? The weatherapp only accepts one location, so the user probably knows which one he had chosen and on the main menu, he only needs to see the actual weather conditions. Plus the scrolling text really diminishes the nice minimalistic look of the launcher I can understand you'll want to promote your build-in media apps, but make it possible to sort them in the Media Center submenu
