Anyone here truly knows what the function is of the jack labeled “IR In”? Have tried using IR out from my URC base station using a 3.5mm TR plug, did not work. Measured 3.24VDC on the tip of a TR plug with the unit off, same when the unit is on. Tried the same with a TRS plug and there was 3.24VDC on both the T & R so I assume it is a mono jack.

On some devices the IR In is intended to use a external IR Receiver but these use a TRS jack with T = Signal, R = +5VDC and Sleeve = Gnd. This type uses negative logic, as in static there is about +5VDC on the signal (Tip) and negative going pulses when commands are sent. This is how the Zappiti Neo works.

Now have the UHD5000 working and using the IR In jack for control. Details posted at AVS in the Zidoo 2023 RTD1619BPD (Z9X Pro / Z20 Pro / Z2000 Pro / Z2600 / UHD5000) thread.

    Can your URC use RS232?

I've always used that with Zidoo boxes (with Crestron in my case) - it's utterly bomb proof and you get discreet powerOn and powerOff which is a prerequisite for CI systems.

    Doc attached.

It can by using a external base station like my URC MSC-400*. There is no serial control data for Zidoo, Zappiti or Dune in the URC database. My URC MX-5000 can do IR, IP and RF and has Zappiti IP control data in their database but I much prefer to use my MX-980 remote which is IR and RF only.

I believe we both know Zidoo could have discreet power in the UHD5000 but chose not to have it. My Zappiti Neo has it.

Any control system for my home theater must be DIY. I am following the progress of the Allonis Remote and Unfolded Circle Remote Two.

    * The MSC-400 is 32 bit and have not used in a long time. URC never did 64 bit drivers for it so I can not program it with my newer PC’s.

Yeah I've no idea why they never added discrete IR codes - I did ask a few years ago and was told they couldn't do it and it seemed like too much of a trek to pursue when I was never going to use it.

Just out of curiosity I just thought I'd try the entire NEC1 (64/64) codeset on the new models (tested on Z9X Pro so would be the same with your 5000)

    Code 77 (4D) is Power On/Off:

    0000 006d 0022 0002 0157 00ac 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0e94

But interestingly Code 76 (4C) appears to be Power Off only:

    0000 006d 0022 0002 0157 00ac 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0e94

The box didn't react to any of the other 254 codes as Power On only.

So as long as you use some logic to save the state of the device in the program, you could use codes 76 and 77 as discrete on/off

Thanks a bunch for testing, hope others can appreciate your efforts, I know that I do. I will add the Off command to my remote.

Feature request: shortcut and/or discrete code to “Favorites”.

My Nvidia Shield Pro is similar with Power Toggle and Power Off codes. One caveat, must be on the Home screen for Off to work, so my Off command is a macro: Home → Delay 2 sec. → Off.

BTW, still have the Z9X in my rack. May replace it with a Dune HD Pro One 8K Plus, depends on your and others comments.

    What can I say? It's a hobby ;)

Favourites is easy - assign it to one of the coloured Red/Green/Blue/Yellow buttons and then use the IR code for that button.

For my Shield I use a Flirc and have a combination of Full Keyboard commands, Media Keys commands and Nvidia Shield commands from the Flirc setup.

I use Nvidia Shield Home as PowerOn and Media Keys Power as Sleep and don't have to worry about it being on the home screen to turn off.

Dunes have discrete IR ON and OFF codes. IMO it's BS that Zidoo can't add them. It's all that is keeping me from buying a 2600 or 5000. I used a 12 volt IR relay module for my Z9X but it's not something I want to do with a unit with a built in power supply.

These codes are NEC1 device 40 subdevice 40 and do not work with my Z9X.
This does work for Power Off
    NEC1 D=64 S=64 F=76
    0000 006C 0022 0002 015B 00AD 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 06FB 015B 0057 0016 0E6C

The Zidoo Power Toggle on the Z9X is:
    NEC1 D=64 S=64 F=77

Did Zidoo change the IR codes to D=40 S=40 on the 1619BDP units?

I got the same results when I analyzed Mark's code in IrScrutinizer. I then changed to the NEC1 D=64 S=64 F=76 and generated Pronto hex. Have not tested yet to see if that code works on the UHD5000.

Mark had told me earlier the new models still used NEC1 D=64 S=64.

I and spouse looked at the colored keys for “Favorites” several times but “Favorites” was nowhere to be found. Already have a shortcut key for “Files”.

    I'm using IrScrutinizer too.
So, I assume you captured your UHD5000 remote and it's 64/64? If so, the code I posted should probably work for OFF.
    I don't see a "Favorites" code anywhere.

Haha, sorry guys - firstly, yes, I was reading from the wrong file for the IR codes posted above - it was indeed a 40/40 file not 64/64 but the file loaded into my Pronto was a 64-64 which obviously works.

And I got the bit about applying a Favourite shortcut to a colour key wrong too!! Reason being, with the Z9X, a shortcut to Media Center opens on Favourites by default. However, once you add an internal hard disc (or a USB disc), Media Center opens on that instead - I'm just used to Favourites opening on the blue key!

That'll teach me to make proclamations away from the box!!!

No, Mark had told me earlier the new boxes still used NEC1, Device 64, Sub Device 64. So I generated Pronto hex for Function 76 and it indeed powers off the 5000.

Can not remember where these came from but you may like these Excel sheets here.

Keyboard use with my UHD5000 and Z9X

I procured a Rii RT518S Wireless and Bluetooth keyboard (here) to use with my Zidoo devices. My equipment rack has a lot of metal so use of BT and Wi-Fi can be problematic for some devices. For the 5000 I used a RP-SMA extension cable (here) to place one antenna so it is just above the rack. On my Z9X I used a USB cable so the 2.4 GHz receiver could be located in my Keystone patch panel. Now I can use with the 5000 by selecting BT or the Z9X by selecting 2.4 GHz on the keyboard.
