I have mostly WD Red Pro NAS and Caviars. A few Seagate, but I am not sure about their reliability yet.

The choppy playback, for me, is worse than ever.

It was hard for me to just dump them all. I recall how much I spent on them at the time. But, the reality is I would never use them again and...

used a wipe program, but they only had old tv shows etc. on them anyway.
I made that mistake twice before I finally went over to the duplicate HDD route.
I remember going through my drawer and finally just tossing all those floppies into the garbage. I also finally tossed about 2 dozen hard drives...

Perhaps, but on earlier firmwares, I did not notice the stutter and audio issues. A bad hardware would be bad regardless of firmware.
Folks think I am nuts, but I have duplicate HDD's of all my media. I am too damn old to try to get this stuff again.
I have had several models of both zidoo and dune over the years. This one is a let down in the issues being so obtrusive to just enjoying a video.
