I have a 14 tb sawed hard disk as soon as I insert it inside the player the system freezes and the player turns off as this happens, the disk inside the pc works

Be sure it is not a 4Kn type of drive with 4K logical and physical sectors. More of these will appear now that the 16 TB limit is approached. These work with W8 and W10 but not with W7 or Android. Have a UHD3000 on order and will be able to test that model too very soon. Always report the brand and model of HDD used.
Mysterie solved but a fix should be applied avoiding at least a crash. Not usable for Android! Already expected these HDD's not to work, but that they make the box crash is unexpected. You need to watch/check this before buying (above all very big and fast NAS) drives. More and more drives will be of this type. Update 25-01-2021: Happens with all HDD's bigger than 10 TByte but only on UHD3000!

My biggest units are Western Digital WD120EDAZ drives. But most should work as 4Kn is still seldom used. Just 12Tbyte. Drives bigger than 2TByte should be labeled/specified AF and/or 512e for compatibility. This drive is an AF type of drive and works with Z9X correctly but not with UHD3000.

Hi Nice monkey, are you saying that a 14 or 16 TB HDD that is 512e/4kn should be compatible with Z10Pro? Only the uhd3000 has the problem? ... I ask because I am having problems finding any 14/16 TB HDDs that are not 512e thanks
The specific UHD3000 >10TByte problem was solved with FW 6.1.05 and now supports the same HDD's as other models. Only drives that are not 512e (=4Kn) won't work with any Zidoo model! Likely the case with any Android platform. Standard 512e (=AF) drives should all work just fine and are easy to be found. It is all about the Logical Sector Size (=Bytes Per Sector) being 512 bytes (old standard) or 4k bytes (new standard). See my example above how to check this.

I am looking to buy a compatible 14 or 16TB HDD, so I dont have it yet to do your example to check the format. I checked ebay and amazon, and finding a drive this big, with a description that says 512e (=AF), is almost impossible. I find nothing listed with this description. Seagate IronWolf 16TB Hard Drive - 3.5" HDD - ST16000VN001 is one possibility however, but I am not sure yet. Many do say '512e/4Kn'... One example is the Seagate Exos X16 ST16000NM001G 16 TB 512e/4Kn SATA 6Gb/ s... But most say nothing at all about this format. Sorry, but I am not understanding what type of drive I should be looking to get (that is 14 or 16TB). Another side question on this... is it a format? If the HDD was 512e 4Kn, can it be formatted into 512n by running a disk format?
Yes they are very bad at informing about 512e/AF or 4Kn types. Most are still OK including Ironwolf types. This will change in the near future passing the 16 TByte boundary. This is HW specific and cannot be changed by formatting the HDD.
I'm waiting delivery of my UHD3000 - I would like to put a 10TB hdd in it. What do you recommend and should I format it first or can the Zidoo do it?
Any low speed drive will do. The less power consumed and less noise the better. Format it NTFS under Windows as Android will not do that for you.
Thanks I thought a 5400 rpm drive would be better - that's what I have in my PVR and C;oud Media A500 that is now EOL
These are mostly far cheaper too. I personally always buy external USB3 drives to be canabalised next for internal deployments. Last WD drives were € 180 for 12 TByte (EU prices). Strange enough external HDD's are far cheaper but have a standard HDD inside, just reformat it and all set to go. No Ironwolf drives or WD Red's NAS drives for me, prefer buying 2 cheap externals for the same amount of money instead.
