There is an application for the remote control (blue icon) - there is an instruction on the conjugation. The infrared mode can be checked by the phone camera - the diode should blink. Maybe your BT is disabled - why do not the old not new remote control?
That remote should work fine - all Zidoo boxes use the same IR codes. As @BREY says, check operation of the IR LED with a phone camera. You can also pair it to the box and use Bluetooth - instructions on the back.
