I have active speakers with a complete internal digital chain (Canton Smart A45). According to Canton, it is best to connect audio sources digitally to avoid unnecessary signal conversions. Now I bought the Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen 2 and thought I could also use the Eversolo as a digital hub, similar to the WiiM Ultra. Unfortunately, I learned that it is not possible to output a digital source back to digital. Why this limitation? I don't understand. In my situation with the active speakers, I don't need the DACs of the Eversolo. But I do need the HDMI ARC to connect my TV and make a digital output to my speakers. Or my turntable with the Waxwing Phono DSP as a preamp with digital outputs... I want to connect it to my Eversolo and make a digital output to my active speakers again. Dear Eversolo team, I ask again. Why this limitation? I'm glad that I only bought the DMP-A6 in the first step for testing etc. and not the A10 as planned. But now it seems that I have to sell the A6 and say goodbye to Eversolo. But maybe a new update will come without this limitation? Does anyone know anything?
With so may scenarios of digital-to-your-speakers I think you may need a DDC instead of a full-fledged player/streamer/preamp... and from that DDC take one output and throw it to the Eversolo. Problem (almost?) solved.
Or just get that A10 which is a kind of digital router too. Apparently expensive to implement as that plus those fancy oven based crystals are the most relevant features over an A8.
I had the same scenario/issue and solved it with a surprisingly well-working automatic TOSLINK switch In Amazon, search for tbe term COOIDEA SPDIF to find it.
First of all, thank you very much for your tips. Yes, there are several solutions to get around the problem, something like workarounds. Yes, I can also connect several devices to the speakers... then I have a cable harness to the speakers. Yes, I can install additional TOSLINK switches or other devices. But I don't want all that. I want to make my system simpler, with fewer cables and fewer individual devices. I know I didn't do enough research before buying it. But it never occurred to me that the Eversolo could behave like that. All other streamers that I know can be used as digital hubs, e.g. the cheap WiiM Ultra or the new FiiO S15. I will therefore probably sell the Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen 2 again. It's a shame, because it's a nice device... but with unnecessary limitations that could probably be easily fixed with a software update.
All the inputs and outputs were very good and extremely invaluable to have in certain cases or scenarios not everyone’s situation is the same worked wonderful why would you wanna mess with it? The move they made by taking the SPDIF output off with icon disappearing if not on internal player was a very bad move for me just speaking for myself it should be the discretion of the owner user to make these decisions, especially when it was current and readily available I can think of 10 different ways to get around this but why , If you can’t get in the front door. I can get in through the back door. the apps were already there and open I see no technical reason or anything questionable to make such a silly move like that I believe they did the same thing with one of the EQ’s I read in one of the posts here and when Eversolo is emailed about it their answer was well. It’s only available in theA-10 now, OK so basically speaking I know what you’re telling me / come on
