Transfer covers and data from one device to another (UHD3000 -> UHD8000)

Good morning, I have a UHD3000 with authentic cinema modification and I would like to switch to the UHD8000 model.
In this case I do not know if I will do the authentic cinema modification or not.
But regardless of this, I would like to know if it is possible to transfer the data and the relative covers from one device to another without having to re-associate everything manually, especially for the files that it does not automatically recognize, because I have about 75 Tera of material.

    Thanks.

Yes you can - have a look here under "HT5 Backup and Restore"

I would do option 3 so you have all bases covered. Just don't delete anything from the UHD3000 until you're sure the 8000 is all good.

Personally I always export NFOs and local art so any Zidoo box I use on my network, regardless of model or version can scan with Local NFO and Artwork precedence.

As for the Authentic Cinema Mod - please, honestly, save your money, it's utter nonsense and will make zero difference to the picture or sound.

Thank you, I was already hesitant whether to do the Authentic Cinema modification again or not. Now I am more convinced.

My current configuration is: UHD300 with 2 internal 16TB HDs and 2 18TB HDs connected to the USB3.0 port of the FritzBox router.
Currently I believe that the folder with all the info (I don't know what they are called) and the associated covers are in the UHD3000 memory.

Do you recommend that I always leave them there? This is not clear to me.

If you mean Poster Folder then yes, I recommend setting it to "Custom" and leaving the location default in of Storage:

Thanks. I checked and the folder I selected at the time is this:
I don't know what's different from yours, if I should leave this one or not. After I backup the UHD3000 then where should I put it in the UHD8000? Screenshot_20250328-235842.png

That's fine - that just means you've created a new directory on the internal storage and have pointed there, but the result is exactly the same.

Keeping it in one place on internal storage is the fastest, most efficient option.

Hi, the UHD8000 just arrived and I am in the process of backing it up. I think I will have the covers re-downloaded, because I don't like to see them among the video files, it gets very chaotic. I'll try to see if it's okay with just method 1. I haven't customized the covers, so I shouldn't have any problems. One more question. But on this model have they finally solved the problem of trailers not working?

Tomorrow I will test between the old UHD3000 and the OPPO. The posters have been connected perfectly. At first glance the image seems darker, but I will check better tomorrow.
In the old UHD3000 there was an HDMI Range item that if set to 0-255 the scenes were very dark, unwatchable and I had set to 16-235. I can't find this item on the new one.

Also there is a problem with the new posters, the old UHD3000 used to find the poster and movie info immediately, this one finds nothing. It doesn't find any association. If I click reassociate data, and type in the name of the movie, nothing appears. What does it depend on?

What will happen if I put the HDD from my old z1000 into a new 8000? Will it just start playing with all the posters and movies no problem?

You'll need to build the database on the new machine - you could either use a backup/restore or NFO export/import or both as below.

    1. Standard Database Backup and Restore

You can backup and restore the database from HT5/Settings/Library

This just saves a backup of the SQLite database so your library and all settings return as previously but it uses online resources for poster and backdrop images, so they may end up being different to your previous library.

    2. Standard Local NFO and Local Artwork Export

You can export all your current artwork and NFO files containing all the current metadata from HT5/Settings/Library/Export.

This creates artwork and Kodi compatible NFOs in each movie folder so if you then scrape with the new box and set local NFO and local art priority in HT5/Settings/Preferences, your library will return exactly the same as previously with the same artwork when you scrape the with new box..

There are two caveats - you'll lose any watched info and relational links for cast members to other movies are lost.

    3. Hybrid Database Backup and Local Art Import

This allows you to backup and restore the database and maintain the same artwork.

Make a backup of the database as in 1. above and then export art and NFO as in 2. above.

On the new box, make sure you tick "Use Local Images First" in HT5/Settings/Preferences.

Now restore the database and you should be back where you started...

There are pros and cons to all methods, and you could also opt for a complete new rescrape to clear any crap out of the old database if you want - depends how good your file naming is.
