How do you use VS10?

How many in here use the Zidoo on a projector and use the VS10 engine as the HDR-tone mapper (i.e. HDR to SDR) instead of the projectors internal tone mapper for HDR?

JVC projectors have good tone mapping but Sony, Epson, Optoma etc do not have as sofisticated tone mapping as JVC, so maybe VS10 would be an improvement? What is your experience here?

Yes, of course... VS10 is perfect for projectors! I use a custom EDID on my Z9x for my Epson 6050 for VS10 to output to SDR for everything. I set my Zidoo to display 4K23hz with matching frame rate only... and I have virtually no HDMI resyncs and a great looking picture. But, as like all setup settings, it is up to you to see what you like best and use it accordingly.

On a Samsung, VS10 For All Content will convert everything to HDR10 using the VS10 engine.

This is good for Dolby Vision content because it uses the Dolby Vision RPU in the conversion.

It may not be so good for HDR10 and you will lose HDR10+ so it's up to you to decide how to use it.

Maybe try VS10 For DV Content.

If i understand correctly vs10 engine read the RPU data from the DV content, or in other words plays DV.Which one to use TV Led or Player Led for DV VS10

It reads and uses the RPU, but in your case, with a Samsung, it outputs in HDR10 so TV Led/Player Led is irrelevant.

In other words there is no benefits to use Vs10 engine for DV content

    No!! Exactly the opposite!!

VS10 uses the DV RPU to tone map the HDR10 signal in a very similar way to how LLDV works.

This sounds good (LLDV on Samsung TV).
For now i will use VS10 For DV content and i will try to see if it's any different or is the same.

Possibly an HDMI cable issue and it sounds like you haven't got Auto Frame Rate switched on.

This only happen when VS10 For DV is ON. Frame Rate switching is on and switch without any problems when HDR is on Auto

No idea - there must be something you're not telling me - with an HDR10 EDID there is no difference in the actual video signal for a DV file played with VS10 on or off - in both cases they are HDR10 signals of the same bandwidth.

Maybe because my zidoo is not connected directly in my tv.
    This happens randomly not always.

The odd thing is that there should be absolutely no difference in signal between an HDR10 output from Auto and an HDR10 output from VS10 so both would behave the same.

If you were using an LLDV EDID and playing 4K60 DV content, then yes I could understand it, but not with an HDR10 EDID.

When VS10 is on only for DV content and i try to play any DV movie zidoo shows VS10 DV and everything plays normal i cant see if the picture is better or not.
I change my color settings from YUV44410Bits to YUV44412bits and for now works

I have had my hdr setting on auto for years on my z9x.. question, if I set vs10 to everything are black levels and things like that good without issue ?? Thought there were issues when the z9x came out.. I would think it's working as designed now ??
    Tv is a sony 75x950h
(Been reading the new z9x 8k thread, got me tinkering with my old z9x.. heh)
    Thanks for your time

All black level issues were ironed out a long time ago.
