Hi all, I have just downloaded a 1080p TV programme in AV1. The source normally uses X.265. The file will not play on my X9S, laptop is fine. I have used MK toolnix to remove the subs but still no joy. Can the X9S handle this format and if not, am I missing out as far as quality is concerned? I understand that its a jump from 8 bit to 10.
No, the X9S does not support AV1. AV1 support was introduced with the Z9X Pro. No, you're not missing much - AV1 is a more efficient encoding method, so smaller files for the same quality. Bit depth depends on how the file was encoded, generally AVC/x.264 tends to be 8-bit and HEVC/x.265 and AV1, 10-bit.
