I tried to try XBMC Wrapper and use official Kodi 19.3, but looks like rooting your player is a must. Didn't want to try that.
I agree HT4 lacks soooooooooooo much customizable settings, display settings, speed compares to Kodi. If they stop supporting it, this is a NO SALE to me.
Kodi / ZDMC should have no issues with that. If a library database change is required, it makes a backup in your userdata folder as expected and upgrades the database for compatibility. addons do the same typically if you have them selected to auto upgrade. That is why there is sometimes a freeze when .kodi/zdmc is starting up because it is doing housekeeping for the latest version. you can always back up manually if you do not trust the upgrade process or use various addons to back up your kodi config.
