Plex client for Zidoo devices - ZidooPlexMod

There aren't any strange characters in the episode/season/show is there? Since I haven't seen any of the debug logs(PlexToZidoo nor ZidooPlexMod) all I can say is that if you truly believe that's the right SMB path then the issue is with the zidoo player. All this code does it pass that string to the zidoo player and it's up to the player to actually access the data. I don't have any access to their logs that would help in understanding what issue they're hitting so it's just guessing on my part as to what the issue may be.

 

Nope -- have been managing media libraries since the very first XBMC version was released.. no special characters. Episodes which played up until the point everything stopped no longer play - nothing will play via the mod. Ill try a re-install and hope for the best!

 

is your share passworded or anything ?? i have ran into that, and then use the media center to go into the shares. not sure why i do that, but it seems to work..
just tossing something out there, sorry if it doesn't apply or help

 

I have now resolved this after a factory reset and re-installation. In the end, no change to paths was required the original path definition is working fine (literally took the export from the original config and imported). Something, somewhere broke.
- Uninstalling and re-installing components did not help
- New installation did not initially work - exactly the same issue
- Always worked playing via media center
- Was taking screen shots to show still not working - then started working. Only thing I could point to was doing a cold shutdown post installation and post playing via media player - how that makes a difference is unclear to me.

 

Should I move to ZidooPlexMod?

I just installed PlextoZidoo with the original Plex client 9.13.0.37280 as stated in documentation on github and it worked on the first try!

Now I want to update the Plex client to something more recent. I'm not an expert of Android and now I see the apk file are apkm which it seems I can't install. I see it's also "universal" and there is often a DPI.

Is it possible to install recent versions on my Zidoo Z9x?

Or now we should continue with Kodi/ZidooPlexMod? I would prefer to keep the original client but if I have no choice...

EDIT : ok I read that APKM file are just zip file. I extracted the file and was able to update to latest version! Still working great

Any advantage to move to Kodi/ZidooPlexMod over the OG client?

 

I don't support the official plex client anymore so if you run into issues you're on your own but it sounds like it's still working for you so feel free to keep using it. I actually like the ZidooPlexMod interface better than the official client but I might be in the minority on that aspect.

I tried ZidooPlexMod and it works great except for one thing. When I stop a movie (back button twice or STOP button), the movie stops and restarts automatically. I need to press the stop or back button multiple times until it doesn't start again. Am I missing something?

 

Make sure your play mode is set to "Single file" under Zidoo quick settings -> Playback -> Play mode. Also it can be changed while playing a video under the settings -> play mode but there you set it to "off".

 

it's already at Single file.

After testing other videos, looks like it's happening just with one (I tested 5 movies). Don't know why this one only.

 

I don't remember if the play mode can be changed per file or not. When playing the file go into the player settings(menu button) and see if the play mode is set to off.

Can you turn on debugging in ZidooPlexMod and then provide the kodi.log file? Instructions are in the first post on hoe to capture the data. Then DM me and I'll give you a place to upload it to.

 

Meanwhile, on another subject, is there a way to modify the home screen? I want to remove some libraries and remove the automatic background image (home screen only).

 

To rearrange/remove libraries press and hold the "OK" button when the library is highlighted. There isn't a way to remove the background image from the home screen only. Yeah, that feature might just be in the PM4K beta's. I only pull in the stable releases into ZidooPlexMod.

 

Ya I don't see that option in my add on settings either, so must be. I prefer the all black background anyways.

 

I also hvve this problem. But it only happens with 4k-movies (not all, but the most). FHD and lower works fine.
And yes, the setting is 'off'.
