With the new 2024 AMLogic based generation Zidoo developed their own App for Plex. Therefore, I thought it makes sense to create a dedicated thread for this new app. See attached screenshots of the current version based upon FW 1.1.35: You can add the apps as shortcuts for quicker access. Autostart is also possible. Plex home screen: Movie detail page:
That is nice thx @Sledgehamma I guess emby integration might be similar. How is it working regarding external’subs. Are they passed like with the tweaks we can find on modded apps we can find in the forum?
@Sledgehamma I'm curious to know if the 'skip intro', 'skip credit', 'up next' plex features for tv episodes also work in this zidoo plex client app during playback.
Really strange. I just got the Z9x 8k yesterday but it has no Plex, Emby or Jellyfin installed. Am I missing something?
@Sledgehamma Hi, away from here for a while, but wondering, when using this Plex version do we still need to SMB share or will it automatically find the Plex server and then be able to playback everything? (like with the normal Plex for Android app)
I'm pretty happy with the functionality of this and cleaned up the look a bit with the all black custom widgets in another thread here, but it sure is bear bones, just like hte Emby and Jellyfin versions. Would be nice to have a little more functionality added, like clicking on an actor and their library coming up, or some better TV episode playback functionality. Should I expect this app to be updated in the future or are we likely in a you get what you get scenario?
Does the app use the information that is already scraped by Plex? In other words, will it match what I see when I log into Plex via my desktop's browser?
It does and you can map drive locations by clicking in to the Device option that's force added and unremovable, but in general it's a very bare bones app. There's not even a minimal settings menu to speak of.
Overall great experience. Wondering if I'm the only one not getting chapters from playback. Otherwise, consider having Collections in the Plex home screen, and edition to be seen somewhere in the Movie detail page.
Does or why doesn't the original Plex Android Client not work? Is real True HD and DTS:X with passtrough working on AVR/Soundbar or does it transcoded to OPUS or PCM? Does PGS Subtitle work in Direct Play? Also together with True HD Atmos? Also together with DTS:X? Actually, all this works good on Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 (v9.20), but its old and don't become any more firmware updates.
Hello, for Zidoo Z9x Pro, it is possible to monitor SATA and USB HDDs at 1.052 with the Zidoo plex option; With 1.095 software, zidoo media players come with options for movies in SATA and USB HDD. However, I can select and play it on streaming. If there is information about this situation, can it be shared? Thanks
I think the native Plex app should be integrated with the poster wall as one of the film sources. If so, the app can share all the functions and UI of the poster wall which is far ahead of similar products. If it cannot be realized in a short time or there are technical problems, then I hope to at least improve some basic functions first, such as merging collections in the movies list, adding TV series to recently added and continued playback, supporting external subtitles, etc.
were you able to find anything on this about the original client ?? on my z9x i can use an old 9.13 version and select movie versions, or a newer 10 version but then not able to select versions of the same movie.. this is using the internal zidoo player, not the plex player.. have not tried with the plex player.. i also have plex2zidoo and zidooplex working in kodi and zdmc, but sorta want the stand alone plex to select versions, i seem to use that more..
This might be a basic question, but I’m exploring options to use Zidoo as a media server to stream movies to a mobile device over Wi-Fi. In the past, I used Plex, which worked well, but unfortunately, Plex doesn’t support ISO files. I currently own two Zidoos and absolutely love them—if only there were a way to use them as a media server! It would be a game-changer for my setup. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thx!!!
