I am so frustrated in using the media player. When a video file is played back and "repeat all" is selected in play mode, and the skip icon is clicked in player or the video comes to end, it skips to another file (in same folder) not according to the sorted order (don't know what order it follows)! so weird! No one has experienced this issue? In addition, it is so inconvenient to use remote controller to skip to next file. Is it possible to add a shortcut to 'skip' to next file (like 'stop' in shortcut)?
I am using FW 1.2.7, everything in the player is in default mode except subtitle is off, and repeat all is enabled. Using the remote control, I did not experience any strange behavior as you are, skip to next or previous are in proper alphabet order, not sure about foreign characters. As for shortcut to skip, I primarily use a mouse for everything other than power on and volume control. I wish they add the volume control from the mouse using the scroll wheel, or drag up/down, would be nice if the play speed can also be controlled by dragging sideways. Also, I would like to see an option to stop at the end of the folder with the repeat all.
Thanks for your reply. This issue happens to me for all folders shared from my synology nas (samba), even all filenames contain alphanumeric characters only. I am using FW 1.2.7 too. (this issue happens in both FW 1.2.6 and 1.2.7.)
I am not sure if you want to use the installed kodi version or the beta 17 version, but all these functions you mention seem to work properly here within kodi. In vers 17, also there has been improvements on the speed of loading the next media file when you have a huge library.
No one encounters this issue? I have tried factory reset, the problems persist. In 'repeat all' mode, after it skips to another file in unknown order. If you click 'stop', it still highlights the first file you selected to play (not the file just stop playing) I really can't believe such as basic 'skip' function of a video player does not work properly and, even worse, get no response from zidoo guys. I will give up the player and switch back to my old media player if next firmware does not solve this problems.
I don't like the "repeat all" function, so on mine is disabled. When I use the "skip next" arrow (last right) on Zidoo Player, it always play the "alphabetical"next file (in the very same order it shows files in the list) Indeed, even not so horrible, after I stop a "sequence play", the "cursor" is still on the first played file. Yes, it's not correct (?) and maybe for other users this behaviour is absolutely unacceptable. Or is there another issue I've not understood?

Is it acceptable and what it should be? In addition, I have more than 100 files (1-5 minutes each) in this folder. It is impossible to finish watching all files in one go. If I don't know where I stop, I don't know where I should start next time!
Noted that played files are MP4, not played are MOV (except first) Hope this will help understand why...
not only skipping the first file "1222_1019_A6300_0020_Squirrel.MP4" it skips other MP4 files as well.
