How does the DMP-A6 process multichannel files played back in stereo?

    I have quite a few multichannel SACD rips on my DMP-A6's internal SSD and connected hard drive. Some of the titles the stereo layers were not ripped. I've played a few of the multichannel rips in stereo and thought they sounded fine. Which made me think how the DMP-A6 was processing multichannel down to stereo. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks!

    Every "right" or "left" (be it front, surround, back, whatever) goes to the right / left channel
    Center channel goes replicated in both left and right
    LFE (subwoofer channel, L.ow F.requency E.xtension) is again replicated in both L and R

    Not much magic...

    So, you have a 5.1 == L C R Ls Rs LFE ==>
    LEFT = L + Ls + C + LFE
    RIGHT = R + Rs + C + LFE

    That makes sense and kind of what I thought was going on. I was just wondering what form of processing or DSP the DMP-A6 used. Certainly not magic with todays processing power but the DMP-A6 does it well. I have to say the stereo layer does sound better to my ears over the multichannel layer being down mixed (proper term?).

    I ripped the stereo and multichannel layers of Tsuyoshi Yamamoto's A Shade Of Blue SACD today. When playing the stereo layer the display is showing 2ch DSD64/2.82 MHz. When playing the multichannel layer in stereo it shows 2.82 MHz 6ch 1 bit/PCM352.8 KHz. All numbers that are well above my knowledge.
