Anyone else update via USB and found it any differences? I can't see any difference to 1.2.50, They certainly don't appear to have taken any notice of the wanted/ suggestions thread at all, as i have not noticed a single change anywhere. @mirror some input for a change would be really appreciated.
you download fake files where only the release date and version have been changed and it is not known what was added by someone who shared it. If it were an official beta, it would definitely be added here.
I installed the 1.2.66 and my Internet Radio beta app is gone please help me someone with any idea I use it a lot @mirror any help
I'm not very computer savvy. So I have to ask why would anyone load a non tested beta firmware on an audio device like the DMP-A6? It seems like all risk for a possible reward that one wouldn't know without update notes.
Just tried to reinstall 1.2.50 and it wont allow it lower version than installed, so does some checks then.
Due to the fact it was posted on the official forum and no one removed it after nearly a week, So took as genuine and as mentioned already, i would have thought there would be checks in place to prevent non genuine updates being installed.
I'm not very adventurous with firmware updates. Prefer to wait till I'm notified that there's an official update. Or use the "Check version" feature in the DMP-A6's menu. I just checked and the firmware is up to date with v1.2.50. Who posted the firmware here on the forum? Were they an employee of Eversolo or Zidoo?
No offense and I'm not trying to be a smart a$$ but is the risk of installing a unknown beta firmware worth it? I screwed up a firmware update on my Emotiva XMC-1 when I first got it and bricked it. It was an official version but I loaded it on a USB stick that had other stuff on it. Wrong! So I had to ship the XMC-1 back to Emotiva. Luckily they paid for the shipping. Since then I'm hyper paranoid of doing any type of updates. Beta, no thanks! I don't want to be a test source for anything.
No need to apologise, I should know better to install from unknown sources, I don't mind Beta testing, done a fair bit of it for various devices over the years, and they usually have crc checks amongst other checks to prevent unauthorised installs, Now i am living in hope this was from eversolo and not malicious
Is the loss of the Internet Radio app the only issue you are having? Can you delete the app and reinstall it without losing all your settings?
The link to the V1.2.66 firmware is hosted on the eversolo server. If it wasn't a version created by eversolo then other than their server getting hacked how else would it be hosted there? music.eversolo.com/dmp/ota/DMP_A6/v1.2.66/DMP-A6_R_v1.2.66_202404232005_ota-package.zip Please remember there are those DP-A6 /A8 users who are part of the beta test group so to facilitate distribution of these versions of the firmware for evaluation it has to be hosted somewhere. Whilst all alpha and beta versions of firmware may carry some risk of losing a feature or two or possibly even having the device "misbehave" in a way not intended, I'm sure the development team at eversolo wouldn't purposefully release firmware that once installed would brick their product(s). IMO that wouldn't be good for brand reputation and pretty much kill off the product line as the word would quickly spread in the audio community in fora such as this. As the saying goes. Sometimes you have to risk it for the biscuit.
Do not upgrade to any version that is not officially released, they are usually used to verify some functionality or streaming certification
It’s the last time I update any beta for sure can I download the internet radio beta app from Eversolo
@mirror Will the official version of the next update have a higher FW version number for those of us that installed this, As cannot downgrade or install the same FW version?
