A8 not playing dsd files

I just received my Eversolo A8 and am trying to play DSD files from usb flash drives.
The artist's album cover shows on display, the song title shows on the display, it appears to be playing, but there is no sound and nothing moving on the VU meters or equalizer.

I am able to play flac files from the same usb flash drives in the A8, where the VU meters and equalizer show music is playing and I have sound.

I also tried a portable hard drive to see if that helped, but same thing, DSD256 & DSD64 have no sound, and flac files do have sound.

I adjusted the volume control of the A8 from -25db up to 0db, and am using the xlr analogue outputs. I also tried the RCA outputs and switched the output to RCA, then later reconnected the XLR and switched back to XLR output on the A8. The XLR cables are feeding a preamp.

 

I use an internally installed SSD but put a few .dsf DSD files on a USB stick to test. I have no problem playing DSD256, DSD128 2ch files.

However, when playing DSD64 multi-channel files, the A8 turns them into PCM 352,8khz and shows DSP is ON (which shouldn’t be possible, since only PCM up to 192khz is accepted for DSP).

Firmware: 1.2.80

 

My A8 firmware says v1.2.60. When I "check for updates" it says the version is the most current. Am wondering if that, or other updates are needed.

Shut the A-8 down via front and back switches, wait a few minutes and re-boot. Update may show up then. Did change anything in the factory settings for playback in your initial setup?

 

Thanks for the suggestion. Was able to update to v1.2.80. But still no luck with dsd files.
A member of another forum suggested powering down again, and checking that EOS was on. I did both, plays flac but still not dsd.
During initial setup just did the quick standard "ok", "ok", "ok". I did not connect a music streaming service yet.
Am more concerned with being able to play dsd files.

 

I just sent a video to their tech support. Hopefully they send out a replacement unit soon.

 

I have the exact same issue. No DSD music is playing but everything else works
1.2.80. trying to play via shared SMB drive.
anyone solve this?

More info: DMP-A8 connected to WIFI. No other inputs. Connected to my shared SMB drive over wifi. All other formats work, but no dsd, iso, dsf etc. displays correctly but no sound. Using XLR output to poweramp.
