Z-10 eARC question

My Sony tv is set to power on via eARC from external devices.
My Apple TV will power on the Sony tv, but not the Z-10.
The Z-10 won’t power on the Sony or the Apple TV.
The Z-10 is set to eARC and plugged into the Sony tv eARC hdmi slot.

Am I missing anything here?

Sorry for the ignorance but what exactly is your question?

 

Using the hdmi connection, I’m trying to get my dac and tv to power up simultaneously.

Z10 HDMI only supports audio, not CEC control. 12v trigger or something like a SofaBaton remote is the only way to switch things on at the same time. I have a Z10 and an Apple TV 4K and I ended up with a SofaBaton

 

Thank you, Paul, you cured my frustration. l wasn’t familiar with CEC control. A universal remote is a great idea for my components.

 

You’re welcome. My SofaBaton X1s works very well with my T8, Z10, Apple TV4K, and Rotel pre-amp. I do connect my TV via TOS link to my pre-amp rather than going through the Z10 though as I have direct input control on the pre-amp.

I also have the T8 - Z10 setup connected via IIs. I mostly use the Apple TV app on the T8. Works great, sounds great.
I wish every component had 12v triggers. It ought to be a law !

 

Another possible work around is a USB to 3.5mm cable. It requires some electronics knowledge to make up the cable and a few other "bits" but it doesn't cost much, less than £10-£15. Basically, all TV's have USB sockets on them and they usually have a 5v output on them (to power a streaming stick maybe). The 5v line is only live when the TV is on. In the cable you can amp that up to 12v... and this is your trigger.

So as in the above example, Apple TV remote to power on the Apple TV + Sony TV, once the TV is on the USB socket becomes live and the cable sends the 12v trigger to, what would be in this case the Z10 DAC or a 12v input trigger.

I've had one of these cables made up for me and I can confirm that it works fine with my Samsung TV.

 

Thanks for the info, Paul. I purchased the Sofabaton, still working on having the Sofabaton switching inputs correctly.

 

I take it that you’re having issues with switching inputs on the Z10?? It might be worth asking Eversolo if they have direct IR control codes for each input that they can let you have.
