    Aaaaaahhh...
I am still on the latest official 1.0.0.52...
So, if not any improvement, the 1.0.0.54 has this annoying bug...
@Nice Monkey is out guy: Could you please make this present at the headquarters? ;-)

Now I've gone back to v1.0.0.52 and I still have the ugly color spots, no matter which VU meter I use, am I doing something wrong?

I may well be color-blind, but I do not see any artifact like the colors of one of those VUs (maybe no. 1, don't remember)
The pic is grainy, but maybe you refer to the background not being pitch-black, but with random, brighter pixels...?

    ETA
Well well well... I didn't notice it till now (yes, I had to go downstairs and check on my Z8):
While I use VU no. 4 (that is, without the fancy halos) and I see no halo in them, when I regulate the volume I DO SEE THE HALOS, not so invasive, still kind of faded, but they are there... my guess is it is a kind of a background that eventually gets covered by a non-transparent VU background; while the volume screen has a, say, 60% transparent background that lets the halos be seen...

@Nice Monkey... this is indeed annoying. I may agree that it will have a low priority, because a) it does not compromise sound, and b) the devs are super-busy with the fixes in the A6... but we (dac owners) have been left behind since april this year...
Maybe it's time for a new release for us as well, fixing this graphical glitch and incorporating, maybe, the FFT display?

No, it wasn't so much the VU meters I was thinking of, it's more the ugly color spots at Audio info only and volume and then inside the menu, which make it harder to read what's written

Then again, yes, we are talking about the same ugly thing...
Aaah, if only I could be granted access to their git repo and make the relevant changes... I do have a project on which I am currently working on, abot 4/5 hours a day, but I would definitely give the remaining 3/4 to fix these little details, OMG!

I never use the volume control on my dac, so it would be nice to have a menu item where it was possible to select a fixed volume :)

Yes, an option like VARIABLE / FIXED 0dB would definitely be appreciated

    Hello @mirror @Markswift2003
I hope you notice that we have many good ideas to make these lovely dacs even fatter and better, because I think they deserve it

Also, I don't seem to remember any settings for the XLR output... and according to Amir measurements, it is nearly 4.2V instead of 4.0V.
So, if I happen to not remember, correct me; on the contrary, it would be nice to have such control over the output level.

I'm afraid that the new streamers A6/A8 have killed the otherwise good dacs Z6/Z8...!!!

    Please can anyone help..
Having recently purchased an Eversolo Z8 I eagerly connected everything up and everything was fine.
Until I tried to bluetooth from the phone.
    I have hardly any volume.
    What am I doing wrong.
    Thanks Andrew

Have you turn up the volume on phone ?

Am I the only one sitting and thinking about how quickly Zidoo has forgotten everything about their otherwise good dacs, because otherwise I think we have come up with some good suggestions for small improvements,
here I am thinking of the stupid color spots that make it difficult to read the text in the menu, and for audio info only and an option for fixed volume, and I actually don't think it requires much...
But if you have a DMP-A6 streamer, it just pours in with Firmware updates, the small changes that could make the Z6/Z8 so much better will probably never happen...

It actually makes me a little sad

You are sad; I am beginning to get a little pi**ed... indeed these are little things, on the UI side, so not even critical from a QA point of view...

All I want is a 5V option on the XLR output.
And an auto detect for the Optical input Please . Please. Please.
Make an effort instead of pandering to the DMP-A6 owners

Why limit the auto detection of the input to the optical one?
Making it general should be more logical to me...
Then, hope the 5V, if they make it, then at least be configurable; as per standard 5V is not there; and can cause gain problems to the PRE/AMP receiving a signal that high.

    OFF TOPIC
BTW, I just tried the option to have the Z8 go to sleep after 5 minutes of no sensing signal: it went. Then, to my surprise, once I started playback again on my RPi (connected through USB) it came back to life.
Only annoying thing is that I heard a vivid "click" through the speakers when this happened.
To note that, as far as I know, that if you put it to sleep pressing its button on the front, then it won't wake up upon sensing signal...

Want to try if this (auto-sleep / auto-wakeup) eventually happens for the optical in, as I have my TV hooked there.

Where will I find the sleep time/function.
    Thanks
