I found my problem... it's the resolution setting on auto (when I set it to 59.9, 23.9, etc., there's no problem, but 60 on auto causes the problem)... I don't understand why it does that.

What was the problem? I have my box set to Auto all the time.

Some videos displayed a black screen and would not play in HT, but it worked when using the file manager.

When using HT, the black screen (due to the change in resolution and/or frequency) appeared, the display counter started to run, but after 2 or 3 seconds, it returned to 0 and the TV no longer detected a video signal (and when I managed to get the video after this problem,, still using HT, jerky images appeared). If I return to the home page, the image reappears. Now that I have set the display to 59.9, everything is working (for now) without any problems...

    edit:
Well, false hope, it started again... I set it to auto and used the “cleanup” app, and the video started playing...

This firmware is nothing but trouble... I should never have installed it...

Theoretically that can't happen - both call the same player.

Not saying it doesn't happen - just saying it can't ;)

Really weird - as I say, HT is just an app - it calls the video player in the same way Media Centre does. The 59.9 thing makes no sense either unless there's a missing VIC (video ID code) in the EDID, but even then it makes no sense as that VIC couldn't be called...

What is certain is that when I couldn't read it with HT, when I went through the file manager it worked... maybe it was luck or chance and I could have read it with HT...

I still have the problem... I launch zdmc and my video starts playing... clearly there is a problem on my device between ht5 and the video player .

Today on a episode of Landman.
I got blackouts of aprox 0,5 seconds
When i opened the info page it informed me the output was 60hz were the episode is 23.976

When i forced the output to 23.976 and did a reboot i could normally watch the episode again.

Why does this keep on happening?
Can someone please tell me how to fix the output to ONLY 23.976 or 24Hz.
For a year this 60hz thing is ff-ing up, not only my set, but also the set of a friend (z3000 on a panasonic).
Previously a blackout would stay until you remember to change the output to 23.976 or 24Hz.
Now the bug has slightly improved but now we get blinking blackouts.

Why does the Z3000 default to 60hz?

So I had my first case of what seems to be the Zidoo deleting a file from my PC hard drive source. I have no other explanation and I recall reading others having this issue. So I have multiple versions of the movie Lionheart aka AWOL aka Leon (Jean Claude Van Damme movie from 1990). I have a total of 5 versions. A 35mm scan mkv, a theatrical cut mkv, a directors cut mkv, international cut mkv, and lastly a full ISO BR copy of the international cut on a totally different drive (I keep my mkvs and ISO files on different drives). They were listed as A - E in the HT interface and I could select whatever one I wanted to watch at any given time.

Problem is that all the mkvs were labeled as Leon as that is the name it is known by in some non US markets. So all the mkvs were labeled as Leon (and then the qualifying description) and the ISO was labeled as Lionheart. I had to manually match the ones labeled as Leon since the TMDB didn't recognize them. Not a big deal but I decided to rename all the Leon ones to Lionheart yesterday so it would match automatically which it did when I updated the source. Problem is now I only had A - D and the ISO was gone from HT. Then I went to the drive on my PC where the ISO was and it was totally deleted from the folder. All that was left in the folder was the SRT subtitle file I had downloaded on a prior watch. It was not in my Recycle Bin, nor did it show up when I tried doing a deleted file recovery search. I certainly didn't delete it myself so I can only wonder if something strange happened when I renamed the mkv files and it matched automatically upon update.

Makes no sense but I have no other explanation. Any thoughts on why this might have happened? I know others have reported having files deleting for no reason before.

mine also does this occasionally. Just watching a TV show and it reboots on its own. Never have found out why.

I can't remember for sure if it's happened with the 8K or only with my previous Z9X, but I have had multiple instances where a movie would not play under HT5 that I could subsequently play under the file manager...

Like Mark said, I'm aware that this should not be possible... but here we are. .

The Zidoo Z9X8K has surpassed its creators. They failed at their own product.

And let's be honest, they don't seem very motivated to fix the problems. Every time we report an issue, they release a firmware update (when they release one) with new features (sometimes ridiculous) without fixing the problem, or even worse, adding to it. The problem isn't the box itself, it's the firmware design.
Since it was released and with all the problems that have been reported, there's been no sign of support to try to improve it... If they released firmware that allowed users to downgrade, that would already be a huge step forward on their part... But no, they prefer to remain in their ignorance... I'm quite annoyed because I've never had as many problems as with this firmware... you have to fight to be able to play two videos in a row without any problems (TV episodes).
Even requests for basic features or basic displays that are commonplace everywhere are ignored in favor of useless stuff.

I completely agree. The developers should stop improving features that only one person in the world needs and finally get the basic features right!
There are now so many sporadic problems (see forum), which points to total instability of the software, and that almost two years after release!

And they're taking away the last option for FW downgrades. Were the developers so sure of themselves? This experiment has failed. Give us back the downgrade option!
