Best option for TV series is just seriesName - S**E**.mkv

Ideally don't include the name of the episode as that seems to cause confusion sometimes, although I must admit in my tests it didn't seem to matter.

the websites that provide the numbering and naming don;t seem to even agree in what order things are broadcasted.
I did a test a while ago in TMM with different scrapers and it was no fun :p

Have to be honest I don't use my Zidoos for TV at all - just movies and docos.

Believe it or not I still use a Mede8er for the small amount of TV stuff I get - not for any other reason than it's in the Lounge where we never watch movies and I'm too lazy to reprogram the Crestron system in there! But in that case I use TVRename and I think I could configure that to produce Kodi NFOs for the Zidoo if I really wanted to..

I gave up collecting TV shows. I watch them immediately or not. (Unless I wNt the dvd/bluray)

OMG! still rocking a Mede8er too?.... I couldn't bear to get rid of my "spaceship" 1000x3d model and have been using it for years for my outdoor projector setup! I honestly don't recall a single time that it ever glitched out.. it just worked.. awesome device.

I never got the spaceship version - until recently I had two 600's but after years of sustained use one of them sustained a warp core breach and had to be binned - so I have a 600 and an old 400 left...

I still go down the road of TV shows. Way too many I have or still want to re-visit, especially shorter mini series type stuff. Band of Brothers is once a year usually. But I sure could do without ever again having to name and remux entire series'. What a gigantic PITA that can be.

I owned a MED800X-3D running fine for few years. No way to sell it out and now it's down in a bookcase.

I managed to rematch some of those tv series by naming correctly (S**E**) and then searching a shorter title. Additional workaround: first TMDB, then TVDB, back to TMDB and voila... you'll find the correct title. ;)

I managed to get it to work with naming suggestions (title - S**E**.mkv) and changing it to search tvdb & series number rather than using accurate search criteria.

If you ever feel the urge, it's dead easy with a utility like Bulk Rename and a bit of logic. You can do an entire series in one hit.

Maybe it's because I use Plex, but I've had excellent results over the years of "Show Name - S##E## - Episode Name".

The episode naming is probably just unnecessary with good scraping and interface programs, but it's hard to let go of the OCD old habits.

Damn. I didn't know that existed. Thank you sir!!! I've used MP3Tag a ton in my life, so you'd think I would have at least looked in to the possibility of something like this, but I've been here like a dope manually renaming show after show after show. 500+ series' manually renamed and remuxed and many ripped

Ironically, I was just trying to figure out how to mass rename my 3000+ image folder I use for the screensaver on my Z9X's and this could work for that. There's no way to set the order of the pictures on the screensaver other than their file name and the order they're listed, so the screensaver always starts on the same images. I was hoping to just throw them in a naming blender periodically to switch the order the images come up to try to keep it fresh. We like to just let it run a lot of the day.

Yeah, to be fair I always advocate for leaving the Episode Name out, but mine are named exactly as you state above which is how I have TVRename configured to spit them out. The Zidoo has never had a problem with that, but as I say, I have limited experience using the Zidoo for TV Series.

Trouble is, same as movies, people seem to think that leaving any old crap in the name - release groups, codecs etc etc doesn't matter. It does. SISO as they say.

It's a stunningly powerful program - I've used it for years and I still find new ways to use it!

Ya, I always have to take out the codec, etc. junk and I don't understand why that's so commonly included, but it is.

Given that I've been manually editing and remuxing to this point, the ones that really drive me nuts are the titles with a period and no spaces between each word. So much intervention required.

I also find ripping my own is similarly borked and not a fun experience with TV on blu-ray. So many shows just spat out as generic file names with no proper ordering to episodes. I had to sleuth way too much for what episode was what and often required playing discs and noting timestamps to identify, or perusing forums of other people encountering the same. With a lot of the older shows being more like 20-25 episodes per season, that was not an easy task.

Sorry to interrupt your pleasant conversation.

The holidays are long gone. Is there any news about random stuttering in DV films in this FW version? When will this be fixed?

Not really no - problem is trying to replicate it. I don't believe that there is a problem that is entirely and exclusively attributable to Dolby Vision.

NONE of the Dolby Vision files I have stutter - and I have a huge amount of Profile 5, Profile 7 and Profile 8 files in both MKV, ISO and BDMV.

The ONLY way I can induce stuttering is under the circumstances laid out below, and then it takes some effort:

    https://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?th...e-settings-updated.100532/page-21#post-281300

Because no-one in their right mind with use both AIPQ and AISR both with the associated OSDs switched on (doesn't happen if the OSD is Off) I'm ignoring that one for the moment.

The only other attributable cause I can find is playback from USB, but again, only from a known problematic clip.

The issue is not attributable to Dolby Vision of itself however there may be a problem with the way certain groups produce so called "Hybrid" Profile 8 encodes, however I know for certain that if this is done correctly then playback does not stutter. I know this because I have a huge amount of my own Profile 8 encodes and they play without stuttering. So Profile 8 of itself is not the issue.

Not saying that some people don't have a problem - they obviously do, but what I am saying is that Dolby Vision per se is not the root of it.

Thanks Mark for your detailed reply.

With me, Profile 7 Remuxe sometimes stutters, sometimes the same films don't. I definitely didn't have this problem with 1.2.40, nothing stuttered for me. I regret the update.

AI is completely disabled on my system.

It's probably not due to VS10, because I output SDR films in DV. Nothing has stuttered there yet. HDR hasn't stuttered yet either.

I have already reported this with Profile 7:

I haven't seen any difference in behaviour between v1.2.40, v1.2.42 and v1.3.05 as far as stuttering goes.

My biggest issue at the moment which has caused me to replace the UHD8000 in the cinema with a Z9X Pro, is this:

    Has anybody seen this effect?

Believe me, it I'd have had any stuttering at all, it certainly wouldn't have lasted this long! I'll fiddle about all day long with this stuff but I have zero tolerance for playback problems in the cinema.

When you see stuttering, where are files being played back from?
