[Tip] How to get Large Album Art for Apple Music (Native App) on Eversolo

    Hi everyone,

If you're an Apple Music user on Eversolo, you probably know that using the native Apple Music app is essential for "Hi-Res Lossless Bit-Perfect" playback. However, the native app's interface is not optimized for Eversolo's landscape screen, resulting in frustratingly small album art.

I’ve found a great workaround to display large, beautiful album art while using the native app. Here is my step-by-step guide.

The Solution: Custom Launcher + Music Widget
    Step 1: Install a Third-Party Launcher
First, install a lightweight launcher on your Eversolo.

    • Recommendation: Nova Launcher or Lynx Launcher.

    • Personal Tip: I find Lynx Launcher to be lighter and more user-friendly for this specific purpose.
Step 2: Clean Up the Desktop
Once installed, remove all default icons from the launcher’s home screen to create a completely blank canvas.

    • Important Note on Home Button: When you press the Home button, your device will ask which launcher to use. Keep "MusicPlayer" (Default) as the "Always" option. You only need to run the custom launcher manually when you want the enhanced display mode.
Step 3: Add the Music Widget
Now, add a music widget to your blank home screen.

    • Recommendation: Ubiquity Music Widget.

    • Setup: Choose the 4x1 size widget, then long-press it to resize/stretch it to fill the entire screen.

    • Customization: In the widget settings, you can adjust fonts, shapes, and background colors. I recommend matching the background color to the album art for a seamless look.
Step 4: Enjoy the Enhanced Interface
The Ubiquity Music Widget displays a large album cover on the left and three lines of track info (Title, Album, Artist) on the right.

    • Note: While it doesn't show technical details like sampling rates or bit depth, the clean, full-screen aesthetic is a massive improvement over the tiny native display.

    • The beauty of this setup is its versatility. This widget works perfectly with all third-party streaming services, including Apple Music Classical, YouTube Music, Tidal, and Qobuz. No matter which app you use, you can enjoy a consistent, high-quality full-screen display of your album art and track metadata
I hope this helps you enjoy your Apple Music library with the visual experience it deserves! Let me know if you have any questions.

While I’ve shared this workaround using custom launchers and widgets to display album art and track info, it is still just a "temporary fix."

My ultimate hope is for Eversolo to natively extract metadata and album art from third-party streaming apps (like Apple Music, Tidal, etc., installed via APK). It would be incredible if the device could integrate this data directly into the default player interface, just as it does for native connection protocols (like AirPlay, DLNA, or Roon Ready).

Having a consistent, high-quality playback screen for all installed apps would truly make the Eversolo experience perfect.

Thank you for your positive feedback! I’m glad you liked this workaround.

While this widget setup improves the visual experience, it’s still a "manual fix" that requires several steps for users. I believe that if the Eversolo development team could integrate this metadata extraction natively into the default player (including VU meters and high-res info), it would make the DMP series the undisputed leader in user experience.

Many users, especially Apple Music and Classical fans, are looking for a unified and premium interface just like the one for Roon or Tidal & Qobuz connect and AirPlay.

    Have a nice day!

You’re not going to get one for Apple Music on any hardware unless it’s Apples own, this stuff isn’t open for anyone to access, the best you can get from Apples MusicKit API is what you see in Everolos own Apple Music App, or other iOS apps that offer a different view to Apple Music all of which limits you to AAC unless they use AM native player. Apple is and always has been a closed shop, this won’t change unless they are forced to by legislation.

I completely agree with you regarding Apple's closed ecosystem and the limitations of their MusicKit API. You’ve pointed out a very valid technical hurdle that has frustrated many of us for years

However, my suggestion isn't about using Apple's limited API. As we know, Eversolo runs on a customized Android OS. My workaround proves that we can already 'read' metadata and album art from the native Apple Music app's notification layer without any special permission from Apple.

What I’m proposing is for Eversolo to officially adopt a 'System-level Notification Listener'—much like how third-party widgets or smartwatches do—to mirror that info onto the main player UI. Since we are already using the native app for Bit-Perfect Hi-Res playback, this would simply be a visual 'bridge' within the Android system itself, requiring no changes from Apple's side.

I hope this clarifies my intent! I just want to make our great Eversolo devices look as good as they sound. Cheers!"

I see what you mean, none of the Android apps you can use display the same as the inbuilt apps. I would assume there is good reason why they don’t utilise the same features of their own apps, but I guess dev need to comment on this and how big a challenge it would be to add it. It would make a more unified look even though I don’t use any of the Android apps. I only use Squeeze Connect or Qobuz Connect.

Musicbrainz Picard can download hires albumart from various sources.

Thanks for the suggestion! Musicbrainz Picard is indeed a great tool for managing local music files and metadata.

However, the issue I’m addressing here isn’t about the resolution of the image file itself, but rather the 'Display Layout' of the Apple Music app on Eversolo's screen. Even with a high-res cover, the native Apple Music app displays it very small in landscape mode.

My tip is a workaround to force that album art to fill the entire screen using a widget, regardless of the source. It's about 'UI optimization' for streaming, rather than 'file management' for local libraries. Hope this clears up the confusion!

THANK YOU!! This is a fantastic workaround and I much prefer it to the default view in Apple Music.
I found your post while searching for a solution similar to Eversolo’s for the iPhone app but for the iPad (a different use case than the native Eversolo screen). On the iPhone, you can switch to Portrait mode while using the cast/screen option and enjoy a full-screen album cover with the bit-perfect native AM app.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t work on the iPad and I’d love to see large album covers in portrait mode. Do you happen to know how to achieve this?
Anyway, your tip for the Eversolo screen is great! I’ll always use my Eversolo with the custom launcher and widget for playlists and albums, as long as I don’t want to shuffle much and look for new music.

    Hi there,

Thanks for your kind words! I’m glad you found the tip useful.

You’re looking for a large, portrait Apple Music view on your iPad, right? Yes, that’s possible!

The trick is changing the orientation mode within the Eversolo Control app settings, which forces a full portrait display. Here is exactly how to do it:

    1. Enter Addition Mode: From the main Eversolo app screen on your iPad, tap the double-arrow icon (\leftrightharpoons) at the top left to enter the "Add device" screen.

    2. Switch to Portrait Mode: Focus on the rectangle icon with arrows in the top right corner, located right next to the gear icon.

    • Tap this icon. The app will immediately rotate from Landscape to Portrait mode.

    3. Now, when you select your device, the Apple Music interface will stay in a stunning, full-screen portrait view, giving you those large, beautiful album covers you’re looking for.

I’ve uploaded the full-screen screenshot here so you can see the exact icons. Enjoy the new view!

    Happy listening!

Thank you again very much for taking the time to help me!

I wish it worked for me this way. I already tried this but for me, unfortunately, it remains in the usual mode, even when in portrait mode. It works right away on my iPhone but not the iPad. I have a 13“, maybe that’s the problem?

Can you try to tap the "DISCOVER" at the bottom of the Eversolo Control app, then launch the APPLE MUSIC directly from "APPS"?

Thank you very much! That did the trick!

I was unaware that you could launch AM through this tab. :)

Thanks to your help, I now have the best of both worlds.

    1) I have a nice-looking Eversolo screen with the workaround from your original post.

    2) The album cover is much larger, and it still has great usability on my iPad in portrait mode. I can control my music with the bit-perfect Apple Music app.

I use my iPad with a magnetic stand in portrait mode (the screen is always on, and it gets power through the stand). I control it with an Apple trackpad, and I’m about 2-2.5 meters away from it. Your suggested solution makes it easier for me to navigate through this distance because I can read the text much better now.

I’ve been looking for such a solution for quite some time now. I can’t thank you enough. I truly appreciate your help and efforts!

This will be implemented in the next version; the large album art on the device screen will also appear on Eversolo conttrol APP, and there will even be a playback queue, but it has some limitations; already played tracks will be automatically cleared in queue.

That is fantastic news! I'm absolutely thrilled to hear that these features will be implemented in the next version. Large album art and the playback queue are exactly what we’ve been waiting for. Thank you and the Eversolo team for listening to user feedback and constantly improving the experience. Can't wait for the update!
