Again, I don't what country you live in but in EU the seller is responsible...of course he most probably is not equipped for the job but it's his responsibility. I have been working 17 years with a major white goods manufacturer and I know what I am talking about Here is a link with more information, perhaps it will help you in the future https://www.eccnet.eu/consumer-righ...hts/shopping-rights/guarantees-and-warranties
Thanks Nutul I’d prefer a one box solution with AirPlay 2 if I can find one. The other worry is what the value of the A6 will be secondhand when the Wiim Ultra is less than half the price
Really this just boils down to how poorly equipped Zidoo is to handle repairs in the US. They are confident it's not the firmware but won't give a RMA for repair . That suggests bad hardware. Solution? Ignore request for RMA. They should rarely fail, there are virtually no moving parts. I bet very few fail compared to number built. Thats not my issue. I accept there are failures. They never even gave repair venues a consideration, trust me these are throw away devices once out of warranty.
Out of curiosity, may I ask you the EXACT brand and model of your external DAC? (I would like to check some technical specs, nothing particular) And once again, could you try the install-older-firmware trick, so we'll see if indeed the DAC still works, or has gone faulty, making you think it is the Eversolo instead? Thank you in advance.
>> it worked for 51 weeks then immediately after update it failed to recognize DAC it worked fine with. @Oddioguy How do you connect that DAC? USB or Toslink?
Nutul If my memory serves me after all his posts here and on other forums, his dad is using the DAC in a McIntosh integrated which is also an ESS Sabre chipset likely of an earlier generation. So though for weeks he has had two possible solutions to this problem, using the ESS DAC in the Eversolo or rolling back the firmware, he has done nothing but continue to stand on his soapbox. Whether or not the latest firmware is the cause of the problem or not there are at least two work arounds to get things working again if he would bother to try them until his "suspected" firmware issue is resolved with an update. If his dad actually wanted the unit to be functional again seems like a pretty easy resolution to me if the dad even knows that it's possible. Does the Eversolo app and firmware have bugs, of course it does just like the streamers from HiFi Rose, Denafrips, Holo and multiple other new entries in the streaming market. If you want to avoid these bugs you buy from the longer standing companies like Lumin, Aurender, Auralic, and Innuos that have been in the market longer and charge exponentially more.
OP here. Disappointed that my post asking for recommendations for alternatives has been hijacked by another user in order to complain. Can we please get back on topic. If you want to have a rant, start your own thread
The cheapest option may be the WiiM Ultra. Shangling showed a "does it all streamer" in Munich. Featurewise impressive, but I cannot find it in the web anywhere.
Well you had me until you played the lawyer card. Politics and that sort of thing aren't what this forum is about. But just telling me you're a lawyer loses points with me. Even if you're awesome. Sorry. I'm sure you know all the jokes. But IMO there's a reason for them. Back to our regular scheduled programing...
Hi, I'm Eki from Eversolo, sorry to hear that the USB on the A6 stop working. I have PM you, may I ask if have received that message? Would you mind share with me the whole story? We will further invetigate the issue, thanks
With all respect, I won’t lose any sleep over not "having you" or "losing points with you". I didn’t play any card. in legal matters, legal knowledge makes the difference. If you think that professional expertise and experience is meaningless, I can’t help you.
leave the man alone... who doesn't see the forest for the trees. This post shouldn't be honored anyway. The man has no idea what world he's in. Goodbye
