Tablet app design and function feature requests

I also contacted Eversolo with my suggestions for improvement and got the exact same answer. It's such a great device and it's such a shame that the software isn't maintained.

 

I am really hoping that the software team do take in some of our suggestions as this has the potential to be THE best player around.

I purchased this because after looking around, it seemed that eversolo were doing lots of updates and adding features that were requested but it doesn't look like it at the moment.

I have a very large music collection and at the moment all I am doing is just adding a handful of albums to listen to. If I was to add my whole collection it would be impossible to browse through thousands of albums without having to narrow them down, ideally by genre for me. Currently it just brings up millions of tracks which is pointless.
I like to pick a genre and then have all the albums in that genre display like the album view. Also on a tablet in landscape it would be really nice the swipe horizontally instead of vertically, it just feels more ergonomic.

I've only had mine a short time so I'll hang on and see what they come up with in the near future. I'm just figuring out the way the tags and images work before letting it loose on a large collection.

.....multi-disc albums really need sorting out. We only need to see ONE cover, then break it up into discs in the playlist view. If you have a collection with 10 discs it's just silly displaying 10 identical covers.

 

I would like to see a vertical letterbox on the right side in my album and artist list , so I can slide fast from A to Z.

It’s simply not doable to manually scroll through your albums, if you have a lot of them.
And since most of us have had a lifetime of collecting albums, this is very relevant.

 

This exists now, but you have to alter how you organize your music (a bit of a pain to be sure)!

You'll also see a delineation CD 1 and CD 2 in your mobile device listing. You won't on the Eversolo (CD 1 and CD 2 headings weren't present last time I checked), but at least the track listing will be in the correct order - the inconsistency in confusing.

 

Thanks Wolfe. It's a workaround I guess but just sticking everything into a single folder isn't really ideal.
You would think that a product specifically made to play music at this price point would really be good at it. This, along with several other issues seem to be such simple "day one" things to include when making a music player!!!

Hopefully the incoming update will address at least some of these issues.....

 

I expect multi-cd albums will continue to need to be structured this way as it's "application" vs "human" organization of music. Apple iTunes/Music does the same thing (while also embedding the cover art in the track).

I would add that your ideas/posts in this thread are amazing! You have articulated what I think is in a lot of our minds.

My real hope is that Eversolo decides to open source the music player. Either that or they need to start a subscription service for the mobile app. I'd pony up $4.99 or $9.99 a year depending on value. No company can continue to pay developers to release new features for an extended period of time without a revenue stream. Though arguably, some of these feature requests should have been included on day one as they are included in some of the most basic music apps, like sort tags, proper indexing, caching, etc.

 

There's an update due anytime now so hopefully it will address some of our wishes.

When I wrote my comment I was using JPlay. I like JPlay and paid subscription for the year.

Now for the majority of time I'm using Audirvana Remote since Audirvana recently released a beta server app for NAS. This makes things very convenient since I don't need a computer running all the time and Audirvana Studio runs from my Synology. Audirvana recognizes Eversolo w/o any issue.

Next year will also be May for this update...

 

Regarding the latest updates A6 /android app...

Thanks for adding browsing via genre. I'm not sure why the album art is slightly smaller than in album view (only 5 columns vs 6)
The multi-disc sets still needs to be sorted, they still show each disc separately.
The playlist screen was my request to have larger cover art but it seems to have gone wrong somewhere (maybe there's a setting I need to change?)

In the album view could we have the option to swipe left/right as well as up/down. I find that with my tablet screen in horizontal mode on the arm of my chair it is much more ergonomical to swipe my finger horizontally

 

I find it difficult to imaging how it would need to be to still preset a bigger image, and not cropping it...

 

First of all, I agree, the cassette screen request is brilliant.
My idea is the possibility of choosing , let’s say, 2 screens and a timeframe between 3 and 10 seconds for these screens to alternate.
The reason is that in the screens with covers the artist and album info is greyed out, thus les readable.
In the text only screens readability is great but obviously no cover ;-)
I think with alternating screens it looks even more luxiurious.
I own a DMP-A6 for 1,5 weeks now, and what a machine.
Perfect sound quality, great app, and the fenomenal screen. And works great with ROON.

Could either be implemented with a choice in the settings or maybe each time you click/touch the image it increases to the next size.

Please give us the option to slide this out of view. The album browsing would be so much better if we could hide this.



Why are the album covers spaced out more in the genre view?



Please give us the option to swipe left/right instead of up/down.
For landscape tablets this is so much more ergonomic.

 

They may be spaced more because there is more information in the text below them... I suppose the GENRE is shown before the title...

 

It's just the same info on both screens. Maybe they did it to differentiate between the two but I would prefer the standard album view.....and we need that bar on the left to be collapsible.

 

This would be my ideal layout for the playlist view on the tablet app.



1. Option for track numbers
2. Larger cover image (slight repositioning of bottom controls and losing the "PCM 44.1kHz" etc)
3. Add the album year
4. Add the genre
5. Add disc info in playlist
