Hello there As all you know from my posts i have the T8 paired with auralic vega g1. I am thinking to sell the vega g1 and buy the z10 instead to pair with T8 Is it going to be an upgrade or downgrade. These 2 dacs are in different price tier. But z10 even if its in lower price tier its outstanding inside and outside. I haven't have a chance to hear it. I know that this question it is subjective and there are too many variables for anyone to consider so he can answer correctly but i want to read your opinions as clearly some of you are more experienced vs me Thanks for your time Konstantinos
Hello I have a few DACS sitting around here some older Some newer , plus the DMP-A8 And I must say I Would absolutely without question love to give the Z 10 a workout from what I can see of it’s overall built and functionality, but unfortunately, I am temporarily committed to other endeavors at the moment like driver and crossover network replacement and a bit of experimentation what I think I’m trying to say is I am not ready to actually sit down and evaluate but again I absolutely would like to get a Z 10 in here for a bit, I may be wrong as we all have been known to be at times, but I would be very surprised. I don’t think I would be disappointed perhaps but I don’t believe so that’s Z 10 is a real nice unit just my humble opinion after 45+ years And counting in this hobby thankfully, please have a nice week and enjoy the music
When a component doesn’t add audible distortion, it is audibly transparent which means you cannot get better sound quality. You can of course choose a really poor design that does add audible distortion. A6/A8 both measured by ASR are both audibly transparent literally the best SQ you can get, the Z10 cannot be ‘better’. Sorry my friend, but I am seriously not aware of any unit device or component on today’s market that would produce any audible or noticeable distortion. I don’t care if you’re 18 years old with perfect hearing we’re not talking about 40/45 years ago I haven’t currently heard any device or UNIT has stated that produced any audible distortion. As far as human hearing is concerned I don’t care what the bench test breeds. I go by what my ear read and tell me stop being ridiculous with that I don’t know how many times we had these useless discussions, not being condescending or facetious, but let’s give that audible distortion equation a break unless your amp is clipping or you’re really driving hard like a race car. You may even start getting crossover distortion, but as far as any unit today in any category at almost any price, there is no audible distortion that’s picked up by the human ear no equipment that I know of unless it’s an old tube amp from 1970. Let’s give it a break here you get beyond ridiculous seriously, please have an enjoyable week, hopefully with no audible distortion from a human perspective aspect
Keith what Biamp300B is trying to say is that indeed even if on papers there is a distortion messured its not clearly audible by us. In fact if its clearly audible on any high end device then there is a serious fault from the factory production line but this is maybe impossible. But keith i don't know if you and Biamp300B disagree about the same thing. If you keith when you say distortion you mean colouration and not transparent then yes you are correct. Biamp300 i thing is refering to actual audio distortion and not about if a device is transparent or coloured the sound. Maybe my thoughts are wrong so feel free to correct me please.
If only that were the case, the key question is audibility, as you say there may be distortion present but is it audible. This is why we compare level matched and unsighted, to determine whether a ( poorly engineered ) product produces enough distortion for it be actually different. Loads of manufacturers make components which audibly distort however they market it as having ‘an inner life’, closer to the ‘live’ sound etc etc. Colouration is distortion. Keith

Hello their RME, and welcome, that’s funny I see you are somewhat of a newer member. That’s great. there are a few folks on here that I can really relate to with many years of experience, for countless years with all types of varieties of equipment form A to Z , I am also extremely lucky to always have a few older guys around that we’re in the High End Audio before I even got started in it in the early 1970s. but the point I’m trying to make or say to you you will absolutely learn as you go along on this forum just like anything else in life sometimes you have to pick through the weeds to find what you’re looking for but thank you for your very nice post however, one of the most important things I wanted to emphasize to you was also with some folks here on this form don’t waste your time, I don’t know why I even commented. Why Nutul , whatever led you to that conclusion although fences make good neighbors. I absolutely certainly without doubt don’t see why not. I just can’t figure out for the life of me why someone would want to keep putting their hands through the fence and keep getting bitten by the same dog. but yes, absolutely what in the world ever brought you to arrive at such a question. to the best of my knowledge we will always be friends, I absolutely do apologize if you had taken offense perhaps you misread it.
