fileflows seems intimidating when first loaded, but once you get your head around how it works, its a super tool for everything file related.

It sounds like you should use some automated subtitle downloader, and then use fileflows to move those downloaded subs into mkv, then all subtitles are downloaded and no need to fiddle through whatever player (phone or zidoo) :)

the world is never perfect adapt your needs to it :)

Wouldn’t this give you hundreds of subtitles that you don’t need?

Not really, configured correctly said program should only dl subs relevant to you ..

My use case personally is english subs for better understanding dialog, and danish for my parents.

and most files (both personal rips and the odd dl hehe) come with embedded english subs so in my case, subtitle program is mainly looking for danish subs

    Hey guys

Tried installed Jellyfin but keep getting password incorrect even when I use quick connect - I know its all working and set up as I can access Jellyfin through a Firestick and on my LG WebOs TV - Is there an updated version ? the one I am using is from November 2023 Beta from Git Hub - any help would be great thanks

2023? There have been dozens of Jellyfin server and client updates released since then.
If you're saying that it's your server that hasn't been updated since 2023, then update it, and you will most likely find that any issues you're having will be sorted.

Only started to look into Jellyfin a week ago - all I could find for the Zidoo was that one I tried first - I also have tried jellyfin-androidtv-v0.18.10-release.apk but that was the same couldn’t sign in - it was from git hub https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-androidtv/releases - can you paste the link of what Jellyfin you use - will give that a go thanks

    OK, fair enough.
Reading between the lines, it almost sounds like you haven't set up a Jellyfin server. Forgive me if you have, and if so, what server are you running (Windows, Mac, Linux, NAS package/Docker)?
My Synology NAS is hosting a Synology community-developed Jellyfin server package, which updates automatically. I use Zidoo's built-in Jellyfin client (which this thread is specifically dedicated to).

Hi - As I mentioned previously - Jellyfin is set up on all the firesticks I have in the other bedrooms and can stream to them with no problem - I can also stream to my iPad and iPhone - The server is setup on my Qnap 464 - I also set it up on my LG G4 WebOs - The only reason I thought I would give it a go on both my Zidoo players is to watch series and thought it would keep track of where I am, better than using Trakt on the Zidoo as that doesn't always work.

    So you did. Sorry.
Have you set up share access/permissions for your Zidoo IP's on the QNAP?
I've had no access/playback issues with any of the recent of Jellyfin ATV apps, including v0.18.10. However, I prefer to use Zidoo's built-in Jellyfin client (despite its GUI shortcomings).

Yes all share access setup and working on the NAS - I can stream using HT5 - I do really like HT5 and that is my preferred app when watching films

where did you get the Zidoo's built-in Jellyfin client from ? is that pre installed on the new Zidoo's ?

Incorrect password is typically mismatch on the client server version and it's not consistent between devices. My iPhone Jelly client works great with old and new servers at the same time. Zidoo and Fire Sticks have to have matched versions. Check the version of your clint on the Fire Stick and compare to the version on Zidoo. They should be similar if both Jellyfin Android TV clients.

I have an old Raspberry Pi 4 with Jellyfin server 10.8.13 and Andy's Jelly client on 2 old Zidoo Z9X with full compatibility. The new Jellyfin server 10.10.7 is on RaspPi 5 and works great with Fire Sticks. Both servers are happily working paralel feeding from the same set of NAS drives including one of the Pi having local USB drives and sharing the content around.

Thanks - The server version on the NAS is 10.10.7-02 not sure what the Firesticks version is - it was downloaded from their app store - My app version on iOS is 1.6.1.0 - I did install jellyfin-androidtv-v0.18.10 that didn't work had the same problem with passwords

Andy's version won't login on server 10.10 and above. Full compatibility is with server 10.8.13. Anything pass that is slowly breaking down. Fire Stick clients don't upgrade automatically all the time. Removing and installing the app again will get the latest version from Amazon store. All the previous versions are at GitHub. Jellyfin AndroidTV is the client for Firestick and Zidoo. Full compatibility with Fire Stick even more so using Vimu player app, with DV and HDR to SDR conversion. Zidoo player has issues with external subtitles using Android TV client.

Ok so if I downgrade to 10.8 on my NAS I shouldn't have that password issue - I would have to probably set it up from scratch again downgrading - do you know what the latest Zidoo jellyfin client is?

Don't think the downgrading of the server would work. You will run into issues with movie database compatibility. You would need backup with that version or install 10.8 and do scraping from scratch. 10.8 server is only for Andy's version of Jellyfin client for older devices before 8K. You don't need the old version if you have Zidoo 8K (the client with direct path is build in the first page of this forum thread), or you don't really care about external subtitles and downloading on the fly.

For everything else the official Jellyfin Client TV and latest server from GitHub is fine .

Ok thanks for all your info - I don't fancy setting all the server up from scratch again - I have used Zidoo's HT for years now and been happy with it - sometimes I get the urge to try other apps on the Zidoo just to see if there is anything I like better than Zidoo's HT poster wall

@Johnwoto just check what client you have on Zidoo that has issue with login and compare to the Fire Stick client. Is it the old Andy's version, or some other generic Android TV version that you haven't upgraded for a while? If you are on generic Android TV client just download the latest version from GitHub and install it on Zidoo. Problem solved. If you have Andy's version and you like it for external subs then you need to evaluate your setup and decide on direction: keep the old server with old clients on Fire Sticks or go with the new server and drop Andy’s version. The third option is my approach keep 2 servers going at the same time ;)

Tried another client and it works I suppose third time lucky - been trying it out - what I have noticed is the screensaver that it’s taking 5 minutes before it kicks in even though I have it set to 60 seconds so not sure why it’s taking so long - also the Jellyfin logo at the top left stays on which that’s going to probably screen burn my OLED - wonder if there is a plugin for a screensaver - thanks for all your help guys
