Spotify is stuck streaming at 96kbps on the DMP-A8

    Hello everyone,

    I just realized that Spotify is stuck streaming at 96kbps on the DMP-A8 using Spotify Connect, even if "high quality" is selected in the app. Tested with multiple songs, same results.

    The only way to stream in High Quality or Lossless is to use the internal Spotify app.

    We were streaming at 96 kbps for a long time and nobody realized this. Eversolo Development team should take a look at this.

    I to have the same issue on my A8, its stuck at 96kbps :mad:

  4. Support told me to download the latest version of the Spotify app from the Eversolo apps. Once logged in, it works in lossless mode, verified. A little more inconvenient, until they fix it. Thanks

    Hi there.
    1. Now you can download the Spotify as a third party app on Eversolo, only one click. The lossless is available.
    2. The Spotify Connect on Eversolo supports up to 48KHz. If we made or planned to make any change, we'll post something about.

    I'm aware of the third party app and it does work.
    But the problem is that when using Spotify Connect on the A8, the stream is locked at 96 Kbps. No matter which quality I choose, it's locked at 96 kbps.

    1. We are aware of the downloadable Spotify App, but the problem is around the Spotify Connect via Eversolo Spotify API.

    2. I don't think I've explained myself correctly. Normally, Spotify Connect supports a bitrate of 320 kbps in high quality mode, and recently, they introduced 44.1khz in Lossless mode. But a bug keeps the bitrate locked at 96kbps (Spotify calls it Normal mode). That's what the bug is: the playback is stuck at 96kbps when it is supposed to be at 320kbps, at least. Check out the screenshots in this thread, they show what the bug is all about.

    I tried Spotify Connect and Google Cast via my Samsung TV and 320kbps works as expected. But via my Eversolo DMP-A8, it's stuck at 96kbps.

    Same problem with my Eversolo DMP-A8. Lossless 44.1 khz with spotify is not possible. The A8 is locked at 96 kbps. When can we expect a solution for the bug?

    Same problem here. Would be nnice if Evversolo acknowledge the bug and working on the solution.

    They are working hard on the project. Scratch the forum, and you'll probably come across the same thread I did, describing an informal conversation with Eversolo AND Spotify tech-dept which clarified that effort is needed on both sides, and work keeps on going.

    96 kbps is the default bitrate used by libraries like librespot, but on librespot can it be configured up to 320 kbps, or did the developers forget to do it, or is there some political/commercial reason? I hope not...

    Meanwhile, Apple users can use AirPlay, which at least supports AAC at 320 kbps.

    You can use AirPlay with AAC @320kbps, but if your source is at 96 kbps, well... that's no different than streaming natively at 96.

    I see a couple threads on here but not much progress. Maybe I am not seeing the right ones, if anyone can link to them that would be great.
    I just don't see any eta on how long this fix will take. Are we talking weeks/months/years?

    I have to say I 'm a bit surprised to see how quiet Eversolo is regarding this 96kbps issue (and lossless).
    It has been a month now without any feedback. Maybe consider returning the box under warranty?

    Are we all on the same page? Let's wait for the new Spotify thingy, as they have changes a lot of stuff in their API for the - looong waited for - lossless layer.
    Spotify is broken on many platforms due to this.
    Is it really a life-or-death situation for you to just wait a bit? Nobody's asking you money to fix it. If Spotify was really that important to you, I'd like to remember you that till 2 months ago it was @32kbps. Loosy. So, practically, you are still gaining something at this limited 96kHz.
    A little respect to the people that are behind the gear. They are just like us.

    Then again, you wanna return it? Nobody's going to cry here around.
