I have made an SMB speed comparison between a Realtek media player, in this case an approx. 6 year old Zidoo X8 (FW 2.1.42/ RTD 1295) and a Zidoo Z9X8K (FW 1.1.70/ Amlogic S928X). I currently have no other Realtek media player. I have exchanged a 54 GB MKV file from PC and to the PC from corresponding media players. My wired network looks like this: PC/SSD <-> 10G <-> Switch <-> 2.5G <-> WiFi Router <-> 1G <-> Zidoo->USB->SSD. On the PC I used a SATA SSD drive, on the media players I used a USB3 SATA drive. I have used the same cabling and network for both players, simply reconnecting them. Zidoo Z8 has usually performed strongly, as have all the other Realtek players from Zidoo and Dune that I've had. Here, copying a file from the Zidoo X8 to the PC, except for a small interruption, it went all the time with a very stable 112-113 MB/s. Here, copying a file from the PC to Zidoo X8, the speed was less stable, but most of the time it was 110 - 112 MB/s. Here we come to the Amlogic player, copying from Z9X 8K to PC, here the player started at full speed for a few seconds, then it was quite stable for about 2 minutes at about 100 MB/s, after that the speed fluctuated between 70 - 100 MB/s, with periods of about 5 seconds. In the other direction, from the PC to the Zidoo Z9X 8K, the most commonly used process, it also usually went at 70 - 90 MB/s with periods of about 5 seconds. The same applies to Dune Mediaplayer. You can clearly see that Amlogic Mediaplayer has a problem and it needs to be improved.
It seems that SMB speed has deteriorated again with FW 1.3.05. I transferred a 20 GB file from an internal SSD to a PC (also SSD) and back again. These are the results: From Player to PC, starting at 100 MB, it quickly halved From PC to Player, fluctuates constantly between approx. 55 and 75 MB The speed was definitely higher before. Question for Zidoo: is it possible to disable this slow buffering and save/read the data directly?

I wonder if it's technically possible to connect a PC and a Zidoo media box with a cable, BUT without using a router? I have to move the router to the opposite end of the room, but the media box remains next to the PC. Yes, you can use Wi-Fi to transfer files, but the speed will be slow and it's not suitable for large files.
Yes - I've never tried, but you should be able to do that - you'd have to give them both fixed IP addresses on the same subnet and omit the gateway (router) address and then just connect with an ethernet cable. In the good old days you'd have needed a crossover cable for this but these days ethernet ports autosense how the ports need to be configured.
I would like to mention that you will likely want to choose a different IP subnet for your device-to-device network. For example, if your LAN that you connect to wirelessly is 192.168.0.0/24 and you use a gateway of 192.168.0.1 do not put your point to point interfaces also in 192.168.0.0/24. Use something completely different. For example, 10.1.1.0/24
I’m currently using the Z1000Pro again and wanted to show the Zidoo developers once more just how much better the SMB speed is on Realtek players compared to Amlogic. It’s actually got worse again since the last update. Here, copying 5 files totalling 30 GB from the PC to the Zidoo Z1000Pro
Yes, that’s a good speed, but that’s the Realtek Media Player Z1000Pro; the current Z3000 Pro is significantly slower – see my posts above.
I queried with you as you said above - no worries. I typically get around 50 to 80 MB/ps from my UHD8000. I utilise my Z1000 Pro upstairs and isn't ethernet connected so I bring the internal drive downstairs and plug it into my PC when I need to transfer anything
