I recently purchased a DMP A8 as an upgrade to the Bluesound Node 2i. I am currently in the process of uploading my modest music library to a 2TB SSD card I installed in the A8. My library resides on a Synology NAS and I am using a MacBook Pro to copy the files from the NAS to the A8. The NAS, A8 and MacBook are all on the same network (1GB Netgear switch/CAT6). The problem is that it its taking ages to copy the music files from the NAS to the A8. I have been at this process for 10 days now and have just reached the letter 'T' in the list of artists in my library! The process is made more frustrating when the MacBook loses connection to either the NAS or the Eversolo in the middle of the night and I have to find out where the copying process stalled and restart it. Can anyone suggest a faster method for doing this? Thanks, Andy
You are performing a copy operation over the LAN between two devices foreign to your laptop: this will take forever, especially on a Mac... Question is (well... questions are...) 1. what's wrong with having the music on the NAS? 2. why just not use a USB dock to plug the SSD to the Mac and transfer the files from the NAS? It will be faster (not light-fast, but faster anyway) In any case, keeping the files on the NAS is the best choice.
I did the same. It is a good idea to have the library in the internal SSD. I have a Synology NAS as back-up and I copied 1.7 TB of data in a couple of days. I have a Mac mini and I used Chronosync, a software specially designed t back up and copy files. Try it. it worked for me.
I can copy 2 TB to my Samsung SSD in a matter of roughly 2000 seconds, that is about half an hour... The NAS has an auto-backup feature itself, why double the data, adding time and resources to keep it synchronized in the first place...?
