Proposal Recently viewed listing

A small addition to the “Recently added” line. Often these will be viewed shortly after they appear in this category, I suggest once they are viewed they should be removed from the recently viewed listing and be returned to the normal movie or tv listing.

 

I'm afraid I disagree.

The "Recently Added" line shows the first few titles from the entire library - if you remove items, it's no longer "Recently Added", rather "Recently Added With Stuff Missing" and the interface would feel incomplete.

I understand your logic, but personally I think it would be detrimental to the whole dynamic of the home screen and you can easily get to "Unwatched" from the widgets.

What would be nice would be if you could apply different orders to different screens - so "Movies" could be in name order and "Unwatched" could be in date order if you wish.

 

I could just eliminate that line altogether and create a widget called Recent and then manually maintain it.

 

That's why I think having different sort orders for different views would be good - then you could have the Unwatched widget in date order and the main movie wall in name order. As it stands at the moment, poster order is universal.

I have Recently Added at the top, then Widgets, then Genres, then Recommended and Watching which I find much more aesthetically pleasing than the default view, particularly since I reset HT often, so Watching, which is at the top by default, is often partially populated or unpopulated which looks messy.

 

Another reason for showing all recently added (even if some were watched) is for use cases where there are multiple people in the family and they all watch things on their own schedule. For example, I watch a movie with the younger child who then tells the older child how great the movie was. Older child wants to watch "that new movie" and finds it on the main screen.

 

Good point.

 

In my case we have all (3) already watched every movie in the recently added row, So it’s like a sore thumb and gets a “anything new” comment. Every household is different that’s why I think the option to remove and move around the order items from any row should be available. At the moment I have removed the offending row.

 

Tweaking the various sections would be good. I'd like the "watching now" row to contain more entries, since we always have a lot of stuff on the go. In particular, many series that are partially watched get bumped off.
