I got a seagate esos 16tb 7200rpm, thing is loud!! I need another high performance hdd at 16tb but quiet... Is there such a thing? Using it for the z20pro and I only want to use hdd
Will that lower the quality of playback? I use 4k films with bitrate between 40 and 90mbps...im new to all this but want perfect playback no stutter. Lots of clicks coming from the HDD
For what it's worth, clicking HDD's are never a good sign. I had my first WD 4TB HDD fail out of the box earlier this year (the first external HDD I've had fail after purchasing about 20 over the years). The first clue something was up was it clacking away. Then it kept losing power and misreporting what I was copying to it. Managed to return it for another that was behaving as expected.
No effect on quality and more than adequate for streaming. Both my internal discs are WD 5400rpm Reds. Same as my NAS. Nearly all my movies are 4K as well as current TV series.
Thanks so much, just looked it up and they don't make 16TB,i must have something in 16tb Do you have other recommendations?
I don't have any other suggestions but others may. Also you could do a web search for quiet hdd for home theatre
MAIWO Dual Bay HDD RAID Enclosure for 3.5 inch SATA Hard Disk Drive, 5Gbps USB 3.0 to SATA Drive Adapter, Up to 36TB Capacity, 2 Bay Aluminum Storage Case https://a.co/d/6aJ3duX What do you think about this. I can put the Hdd in there and hide it somewhere quiet, use a 3.0 usb cable to connect to the z20pro? Would I lose performance and would it affect quality of playback on the zidoo?
