hey yall this is my first post on this forum..been using zidoo Z9X for few years now nothing like it..but really could use some help..panicking a bit..last night i added some new mkv remux files to my 20tb Seagate expansion hdd..after finishing i plugged it into my Z9X as i usually do but this time all the files located on it suddenly disappeared..it reads the drive and the device shows up in media center but zero files..wen i open HT5, all files are gone from poster wall and the sources tab shows the device scanned but it says 0/0..I plugged it into my shield and it ran & played fine and did same with my mac & PC laptop but nothing shows up in HT/Media..stressing me out big time..is there a reason this happened? Worked fine til now..any help is appreciated deeply

  2. Hello. There's not really enough information to know what happened, and might not be possible to know. It might have nothing to do with the Zidoo. Could be some kind of hard drive failure, or file system corruption. You can try some Windows or Mac program for finding files on an unreadable hard drive, but you'd need a second drive to recover them to, if it's even possible to recover them.

    Good luck.

Did you perform a backup of the HT5.0 poster wall? That's something to do regularly if you have not done it before. Now, you've verified the integrity of the drive and its contents by plugging it in to another computer, correct? If the data is still on the drive, and you don't have a backup for the posterwall, turn off the Zidoo (unplug from power and wait 60 seconds), plug the drive back in and power up the zidoo. Check if your zidoo recognizes the drive under "SMB". If it recognizes the drive, check if it sees your files. Report back on your progress. If the zidoo recognizes your drive and sees the files you can try to restore the posterwall from the backup. If you don't have a current back-up, you will need to go through 'search' and re-identify all the files. It's a time-consuming process, but without a backup it's the only way. Good Luck.

Hey thank u so much for responding..it works fine through kodi on my shield but zidoo now sees the drive but not the contents..luckily all the files are still intact just doesn’t show up on my Z9X..nothing popped up under SMB other then my other computers..i wonder what couldve caused this because the new files i added transferred smoothly and i was just watching files on this drive yesterday…do u think maybe it has something to do with it being 20TB external hdd? I read somewhere that zidoo has a max capacity

It still works fine on My computer and also my nvidia shield but the contents just dont show up on my Z9X..didn’t do anything different..only thing i noticed i almost maxed most of my 20TB hdd on last transfer..could there mb be usb storage limit?

  6. When I Googled, just now, I'm seeing some people claim there's a limit of 16 TB with their Z9X. I have no personal experience with that because all my storage is on my computer, and I access it from the Zidoo over Ethernet cable through my router (SMB).

Ah, is this a new drive not previously connected to your Zidoo? Do you have another (smaller) drive? If so, copy some of the files from the larger drive to the smaller one, hook it up to the Zidoo and see if the drive & files are recognized. If the drive and files are recognized, your problem may be the size of the larger drive. To confirm this, contact Zidoo tech support and pose the question to them. I haven't read anything about a size limit of drives hooked to the zidoo, but it's certainly a possibility.

Thinking i might have to do this in the future..wondering if maybe it past the storage threshold and now just won’t read

I just tried this and the files showed up on the other drive..just not the current one..starting to think soon as i passed 17tb it became unreadable to zidoo but thats just a theory lol..i guess i can contact zidoo tech..thank u so much tho

That's good and bad news. It sounds like the size of the new(?) larger drive is the issue. You can contact Zidoo tech support to confirm. A possible workaround is to set up your large drive on your home network and "point" the Zidoo to it on your network.

I been reading alot of ppl do this..is it fairly easy to set something up like that? Im kind of a rookie lmao

  12. If you're on Windows, right-click a drive (such as in File Explorer), choose Properties. Choose the Sharing tab, click the Share button, or once you're more comfortable with it,k you can use Advanced Sharing on that Sharing tab. From the Zidoo, it was painless to point it to a folder on the drive to get it to automatically scan anything added to the folder.

In the Zidoo, you might have to give it your Windows login username and password in order to access your network share, because your share will likely be protected (the way it should be). I've been doing it this way for 5 1/2 years.

Awesome thanks..i think im going to do this for future..i emailed the tech support just to see if i can figure out what happened but the more i read it seems like z9x has issues with anything past 17tb and passing that line couldve made this happen
