Plezy slick 3rd party Plex app works with native player

Not much more to say than that. Available for free from their GitHub or for $4.99 on Google play.

Only drawback I see so far is that playback time synchronization across other plex clients doesn’t work.

Interesting. I'd be up for trying this out and still might, but the lack of playback time sync is too big of an issue in my world. Does that apply to all the Plezy apps or just when on the Zidoo?

Playback sync seems to work if you use plezy’s player. But the built in player doesn’t have all codecs, such as DTS-MA.

I decided to try this out. I'll leave it on there as a back up and will play around with it, but I think I prefer the PlextoZidoo interface.

The Native Zidoo video player does work with Plezy, but as noted, it does not sync playback, so that's a bummer. Using Plezy's player to get around that defeats the benefits of the Zidoo player, so I'm not interested in that either. Maybe that can be fixed in the future though.

That said, a Plex app that uses the Zidoo Video player out of the box and seems to run smoothly is pretty cool. Better than the built in Zidoo Plex app.

I think this is the big UX upgrade that we have been waiting for forever. What would it take for somebody in this forum to put out a PR to enable playtime sync? I hope it is just a matter of time.

Well it happened. 2.4.1 works with external player and playback timesync. I will be testing it out for the next couple of weeks, but quick test was successful! Happy times :D

Wow, I have to check it out. It works with Jellyfin as well. The only downside that I can see is no trailers on Jellyfin client side.

Downloading and playing external subtitles may also be an issue. Zidoo needs to be pointed to a local file rather than playing stream from the server in order to have full subs control.

I tested if with my Jellyfin setup. It's better than expected. This app disserves a separate thread as Jellyfin client. I'll post something tomorrow.

Nice to hear that! Wouldn't it make sense to have only one thread for "Plezy" and let the people discuss there? Segmentation will make it harder for general questions.

True but as the path at the top of the forum splits from "Applications & Development" into "Plex for Zidoo" and "Jellyfin for Zidoo" it should be separated. I will mention the cross platform and link to this Plex thread.

This is a great 3rd party plex, can anyone explain why there is a hard crash with the zidoo box going to solid red light from time to time.

Does the app update without purchasing from the play store ( I did purchase before realizing it was free to sideload)?

It does not crash on Nvidia Shield 2019.

Any possibility to support BDMV folder play like "Media Center" on zidoo boxes?

IS there a specific player we should be using from zidoo other than the defaul on the plezy apk.

I did find the Force TV mode that corrects the app for the zidoo box since it is a stripped down phone OS> RT1619DR series

I am post concerned about what seems to be a OS crash or kernel crash on android, causing a solid red light. Does it on both Z1000 Pro and UHD3000 that I have experienced.

Is there something to fix this?

It is truely a great plex / jellyfin replacement and is considerably faster.

It has earned a spot on my launcher likely permanently

I'm not a Plex guy, so I'm not the right person to answer Plex questions but I know Zidoo specially RT1619DR series. I use Jellyfin as my media on my terms solution.

"Does the app update without purchasing from the play store ( I did purchase before realizing it was free to sideload)?"
Probably not. You would need to download it unzip to .apk and install manually every version as you go. It can be done on the player using Downloader and X-Files.

"IS there a specific player we should be using from zidoo other than the defaul on the plezy apk."
If you are using this app on Zidoo box you should be using Zidoo native player Gallery. This takes full advantage of the hardware. Anything else can crash, stutter and limit audio and video output.

"Any possibility to support BDMV folder play like "Media Center" on zidoo boxes?"
I just tested to be sure, it does work for me in my setup, I can play the movie from Plezy as BDMV folder, just click PLAY button and it works. I'm using Jellyfin server and JellyfinToZidoo bridge. It uses technique for path substitution. It intercepts the stream path to the Zidoo player and replaces it with the direct path to network drive / file / BDMV folder. Zidoo native player works just like from Home Theater. It reads BDMV folders, ISO and has full support for subtitles external files and live downloading during the movie. I posted more info about it here.

"IS there a specific player we should be using from zidoo other than the default on the plezy apk."
Yes, on Zidoo boxes you should be using only Zidoo native player Gallery. Just select external player, system default in Plezy and it will automatically give you Zidoo player.

"I did find the Force TV mode that corrects the app for the zidoo box since it is a stripped down phone OS> RT1619DR series"
Same thing, the latest version of Plezy defaults to phone layout. It's impossible to get to menu bar without the mouse.

I haven't seen any myself on my Z9X RT1619DR chipset. Is it possible that you are using build in Plezy player instead of Zidoo player causing this?

One more note about the BDMV folder playback. There is PlexToZidoo bridge app that will do the same as JellyfinToZidoo but you are on your own. I don't have Plex and haven't used that app.

What should you type as the external player to use the plextozidoo bridge? It doesn't just let you select an app but asks to type something in?

I don't use Plex and PlexToZidoo app but this should be similar to Jelly setup.

You don't call the PlexToZidoo app from within the Plezy. I already tried that in many ways. It's not passing the movie argument correctly. In Plezy settings you select External Player and System Default on the next page.

You have to set up PlexToZidoo as available player. You need to get a popup window with a list of available players when you click on Play button in Plezy.
Check out the picture in this post.

To get the popup window follow the instructions from PlexToZidoo page here. It's towards the end of the page.

i got this one, just select exteraal player radio button in video settings area in Plezy, exit out and play a movie, the first one it plays will ask you to select the video player. Just the gallery 3d player i think it is and click "always" vs "just once" Now you are using the Zidoo native player that is used in Home Theater and Media Center ( The file browser) with all the codec, subtitle support and recently resume or start from beginning that is familar with The zidoo player.
