Are you on the latest version that was released yesterday, if not update to that(1.0.5d_zidoo_1)? Otherwise, please gather the debug log.

Not on latest I don’t believe. Not completely she how to update but I used kodi for 10 plus years before zidoo so I should be able to figure it out.

Go to the add on in Kodi's add on section. Hit the menu button when on the Plex icon and it should bring up 4 options, choose "Information". In there you can choose the update option to the new 1.05.

When I go into the watchlist, find a tv show and click on the server I want to watch it on. The tv show details I go down to extras and click on any trailer, it doesn't play the trailer. I see message "can't play video" toast message. This can't play video for trailers happens to any tv show I try.

I do not see any errors in the log viewer unfortunately. Everything is normal and not even warnings show up.

Are the trailers local files you have? If not then that's somewhat expected. This fork is only meant to play local content. The problem is that the zidoo player is not good at playing streaming content and will usually just not play the video stream at all. Which is what you're getting when you see the "can't play video" message. That's the Zidoo player saying it doesn't understand the format of the stream that Plex sent to it. If you want a full fledged Plex client to play streaming things like the Plex free movies/tv, trailers, or use it for live TV this is not the Plex client for you. In those cases you should really be using something like an AppleTV, Roku, Shield and use the offiical Plex client.

That's interesting to hear. I've had great luck with trailers on this fork and use them regularly. I don't have any local trailer files. I just hit the little trailer icon on the movie page. Must have thrown up at least 5 last night when trying to pick a movie. I've definitely had some shit quality and/or length trailers come up, but they always seem to work.

I'm still getting "failed to start zidoo player" and "failed to play video" at the bottom of the screen. I've updated to the latest 1.05. I'm using an NFS share. path looks identical to what I see in media browser / HT5.

Did you have this working before or is this a new setup? The "failed to start zidoo player" sounds like the issues others were running into on 1.0.5d_zidoo, make sure you're on 1.0.5d_zidoo_1. Please collect the Kodi debug log as well as the PlexToZidoo debug screen. I tried to make NFS shares work but there have been reports of it not working. Again, it's all up to the Zidoo player if it will work or not, I don't really have any control over it. SMB is a better option for the Zidoo.

This is a new setup. I updated via the Kodi repository interface, but I believe you posted the newest update in a zip file? I have a really dumb question, but I'm not normally a Kodi user. How do I update the app from the zip file you provided? I'm lost as can be in Kodi.

The repo will have the latest version. To make sure you're running it go into ZidooPlexMod then go to settings and on the "about" page it should show 1.0.5d_zidoo_1. If it doesn't then go into the repo and manually update to the latest.

    I just confirmed I'm running 1.0.5d_zidoo_1

Same error. I had this setup on an older Zidoo player using SMB about a year ago. I moved to zidoo Z30 and was using the native plex app, but there are a few features missing. I was trying to get this running to restore some interface features, but I'm now using NFS to resolve a weird SMB issue I was running into that created pauses on some media. NFS completely resolved the playback issues on the problematic files. This is the first time I've tried with NFS mappings.

Which error? You originally stated you had two different errors("failed to start zidoo player" and "failed to play video"). And really to help any further I'm going to need the debug log from Kodi and the debug page from PlexToZidoo.

Hi all, i'm currently running the native plex client on my trustee Z9X, but am very tempted this year to upgrade to the latest boxes (amlogic s928x). I really need plex and want the native app. I know most of you have migrated to this kodi addon, but i can't deal with kodi UI. Will the old method still work with the new boxes? Ie, can i still get some plex client from google play store (maybe sideload if it needs a specific version of the client), and set it to use plextozidoo as the external player?

Plex dropped support for external players on the Android TV versions that the newer Zidoo boxes use, so no you can't use the native plex app and have it play on the zidoo player starting with the Z9X Pro line. That's actually the whole reason I created this fork of PM4K.

I ended up pulling the trigger on the new box so will migrate to this.
Sorry to ask if these have already been answered but a couple of questions

1). Am I safe to install the google play firmware? Previous z9x had a low process limit that had to be increased every time the device rebooted. Has this limitation been removed?

2). With this fork are you able to get the plex server to trigger webhooks / scrobbling? Useful for trakt integration. If not no biggie I have a plex to trakt cronjob running on the nas.

3). The Zidoo plex client that comes with the new boxes. All you guys found it too limited and prefer this kodi mod? Is the upstream of this fork updated often?

    1. Should be fine to install google play firmware if you want but to be honest these boxes aren't a great fit if you're thinking this is going to be an everything streamer box like an nvidia shield box. The background limit issue is only an issue on the Z9X box.
    2. It should but to be honest I've not tried it so I can't say for sure.
    3. Never even got it to work on my boxes and there is no way they're going to be able to keep up with the plex features that this fork does. The upstream PM4K fork is constantly being updated/improved. Almost too often, which is why I don't update to all of the beta releases and wait for something more stable before updating this fork.
