I can't start the addon. It simply throw that error. And, it'll update the log, but apparently it's not writing anything to it. I'm not sure where to begin troubleshooting. Everything worked fine before the update. And, being that I was out of the country for 2 weeks, I hadn't touched anything. The addon just auto updated while I was out, and stopped working...

Any troubleshooting ideas? I'll try anything at this point.

Without a debug log there's not much I can do since I can't reproduce that issue here. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by it will update the log but apparently it's not writing out anything. Does ZDMC crash after it fails to start ZidooPlexMod, if so then I could maybe understand that the log is empty because it crashes before it writes out the data to the log? Or is that because you're trying to collect the log while Kodi is running and maybe it's just in the cache and hasn't been flushed to disk yet? Assuming ZDMC isn't crashing, log into ZDMC, go into the settings and turn debuging on in the System->Logging section. Try and start ZidooPlexMod and after that fails exit out of ZDMC. Then log in over SMB and see if the file exists(/Storage/Android/data/com.zidoo.zdmc/files/.kodi/temp/kodi.log). If it does can you view it directly over the SMB and see data? Hopefully that will work and you can send that to me.

Otherwise these are some other options to try:
    1. Uninstall(wipe settings as part of uninstall) and then reinstall ZidooPlexMod
    2. Uninstall and then reinstall ZDMC and ZidooPlexMod
    3. Go back to the older 0.4.1 version and turn off auto update.

I tried playing some TV shows tonight and I'm getting the ZidooPlexMod error pop up and won't play the content on some shows but not all. Movies have been fine so far. Says Error: None just below it. It's happening on the same episodes on both my 8K's and my OG Z9X all with the new update. There were a couple times where it did start the episode correctly, but backing out and trying again threw up the same error.

These are episodes I'd played recently on 0.4.1. They work on my shield and computer accessing through Plex.

I can send the log but opening with notepad they look to be empty even though I've got debug logging turned on. Not sure what I could be doing wrong there.

Edit: I rolled back to 0.4.1 on 1 of my 8k's and the same episodes played fine, so its definitely got to be due to the update. Will try to get a log with data to provide tonight. Not sure why the log is empty when debug is turned on.

It looks like it's failing on the auto-sync subtitles stuff that was added. We can't support that on the Zidoo and I had thought I disabled it but apparently I missed some things. I don't have that option enabled on my system so I can't really test my changes. Would you be willing to try this beta version to see if it solves your problems? Even if this fixes your issues, please enable debug and send me the kodi.log so I can make sure I don't see any other errors. Thanks.

Okay, so I think I sorted out the issue. Maybe letting you know what I found will help someone else.

To even get the plex app to load, I ran option 1 (wipe the app + settings), but while the app would now load (which it wouldn't before) it still would throw an error, saying none of the servers could be found.

The issue, I believe, is that I have 2 users that are required to login (w/ a numerical PW) into plex. For whatever reason, the settings (I believe in the PlexToZidoo app that's downloaded from GitHub) were telling Plex that I was already logged in, yet I wasn't. Only after wiping the settings from that app as well, was I was presented with the user login option. Then, I was able to select auto login, and then Import all the settings back into the PlexToZidoo app.

Anyways, I seem to be good to go. I appreciate your help, and your hard work putting this app together for us all. I wouldn't use my UHD8000 otherwise.

Glad you got it working but PlexToZidoo doesn't log into plex at all, it's just a helper app to faciliate the conversion from the ZidooPlexMod https stream to a SMB path that the Zidoo player uses to access the media. The fact that wiping the app caused it to boot but not see the servers sounds more like a DNS rebind issue. That logic did change so maybe something in that got messed up. Thanks for reporting back that you got it to work, maybe it will help others if they get into the same issue.

Do you think these suggestions 1 and 2 are worth trying for my issue noted in post #484 or should I just figure out my log situation and that's the better route to go?

Okay, so I have this issue as well. A TV directory that work for TV, and still works for movies (on the same server), will not play any TV shows. I get the same exact error on all TV shows from this directory now... It makes no sense as the same mapping works for Movies on the same server. And, this all worked before the update.

I think you should try the beta version I attached to #485 first.

Thanks. Tried the beta version and the issue persists. My logs are still showing nothing as well, so I'm not sure what to provide to help. Could I send a file that's failing?

I'm inclined to try things like suggestions 1 and 2 I asked about, but since it's happening on all 3 of my boxes, I'm skeptical those will help.

It isn't tied to a specific storage location as some within basically the same locations work and some don't. There doesn't seem to be any consistency on file types like hdr formats, resolution, subtitle flags or audio tracks. Out of probably 100-200 times I've hit play on an episode that is failing, there were randomly 2 maybe 3 times the episodes played properly. The episodes load the wallpaper image and stick there unless I hit exit. I tried moving some of the files around but the same ones wouldn't play regardless of file location.

I'm sure the files are fine. The error message sounds like it's crashing on something before it starts to play the video. But without a debug log I can't fix anything. Go ahead and try the suggestions I mentioned above. It's not like it's going to hurt to try them.

Ya Ill still at least give it a shot before I roll back. I hear you on the logs. I'm not sure why they're not generating text since there's errors happening.

The files are fine ya. Since it's the same files not working on all 3 of my Z9X's, I guess I was just curious if the same files would show the same behavior on other peoples Z9X's with this version, outside of my setup.

I wonder if this will prove to be a universal problem with the update, of if the new update is only throwing something off specific to our setups.

    Did you try the beta?

And are your logs showing anything that could be submitted to bowlingbeeg?

I hate to have to abandon the update with so many great new features I've wanted, but nothing generates in my log that I can submit.

I installed the update, but the issue is still there. It simply won't play any TV shows in the /tv directory Although it has zero issues playing Movies from the /Movies directory (both are on the same server at /media/Movies & /media/TV).. No settings have been changed in the PlexToZidoo app. The remapping is all correct and has been verified. Further, the remapping settings worked w/ the last version of Plex.

Ya I don't think it's worth chasing down any of the mapping. It's obviously something introduced from the new update and we need something to register in the log to be able to provide that to bowlingbeeg. My log is coming out empty which indicates it isn't picking up on any errors to log about, which is strange.

That's interesting that none at all in your TV directory work. Many if not the majority of my TV shows do work, but probably ~30% don't. Some files in the same directories work fine, and the ones that don't are from multiple directories, so it's not a specific folder. I even tried shuffling them around to see, and the same files that won't play consistently still won't play, regardless of file location. And it's the exact same files not working on all 3 of my Z9X's.

Yeah, my log file is completely blank as well. I can also play TV files from another directory (on another server). But so far, nothing has worked from this specific directory. It doesn’t make any sense as to what the issue would be.

Gotcha. That's too bad your logs aren't registering anything either.

I'm stumped at this point. I'll try fresh installs as suggested, but since the behavior is the same on 3 boxes for the exact same files (without any exceptions + or -), I doubt that will change anything. After that, Ill just have to stay on 0.4.1 and forget about the new update.

This one solved it partially for me (tried a few different media files).
I was running 0.4.x just installed this beta over it, enabled debug in zdmc/kodi and then in the addon, exited zdmc, opened zdmc and had success with a lot more files, but not with everything. Log added of a fresh start and opening the media file that errored out (it doesn’t give an error like before, but it doesn’t start playing and then says failed to start zidoo player)
