Hi guys, I'm fairly new to things like this, pure amateur here. Could you explain point 6 to me. I've got the app and mod installed but I can't figure out where and what to look out for in the media center. Can someone give me a hint or even better an example on how that should look like?

Yes this is typically where people get stuck. You need to look at how your plex server accesses your media. This could be different for every library you have and/or if you have multiple paths to files in the same library. So go through your library and write down the paths. Next you need to figure out how the zidoo player will access those files directly through SMB. Then you just need to figure out the regex pattern that will do the substitution. For example:

    Plex Server Path:
    C:\some\path\to\media

SMB path to that same location(try using the media center app on the zidoo and take note of the directories as you traverse to your file):
    \\192.168.1.1\shared\some\path\to\media

Then you would enter these values:

    Part to be replaced:
    C:\some

    Replaced with:
    smb://192.168.1.1/shared/some

What that means is that the PlexToZidoo app will replace "C:\some" with "smb://192.168.1.1/shared/some" and then the rest of the path will remain the same.

    My setup is as follows:

My shared paths on my Synology NAS are:

    /volume1/data/media/movies
    /volume1/data/media/tv
    /volume1/Films

In PlexToZidoo within the 'Substitutions' section I put

Part of the path to replace
    /volume1/data,/volume1/Films

    Replaced with
    smb://192.168.0.202/data,smb://192.168.0.202/Films

Hi @bowlingbeeg , sorry about the delay I saw your post but somehow forgot about it later.
I attach the new log in this post. I see more lines with monitor # in it, I suppose that's what you wanted to see?

No problem ... Here is another beta to try. I think this should hopefully remove the error dialog but I'm not quite sure if the monitoring code will exit properly or not. So please test again and even if the dialog is removed please send me the logs so I can make sure the monitoring task is working correctly. Thanks.

Sometimes there is no popup and all seems fine and sometimes there is a stack trace like error and what happens visually is that I do not see the popup but I am stuck in just seeing the background art of the movie and still need to press back once to really come back to where I see the ZidooPlexMod infos and buttons for the movie, so it is not really fixed yet.

I attach the _ok and _error file for the two cases I just described.

Thanks, as I suspected the monitoring code had issues. Can you try this new beta and send me the logs. Thanks.

Thank you for the example. Unfortunately I couldn't get it to work. As I start the file on the Kodi Plex Mod I get these two "error messages". I easily hit play and the file works fine, but still it causes me some headaches.

Those aren't errors. That's the debug screen to help get things setup correctly. If there was an error there would be a red banner with the description of the error. Since it appears you have things setup properly you should go into the PlexToZidoo app and turn off the debug option, then you won't see that screen anymore.

This version seems ok! I have three logs attached.

The one that finishes with _ok is just a video that stopped normally and no error popup appeared.

The one that finishes with _kodi21_crash is a time when kodi 21 crashed after I stopped playback. No error popup appeared. I don't think this has anything to do with your code because kodi21 is just unstable on the Z9X 8K. I didn't try kodi 20.2 yet with your version beta 3 because I didn't know if you want me to make more tests on the kodi logs and I don't get logs on kodi 20.2 but I never had one crash on kodi 20.2 so my guess is your code will be perfect on 20.2 when I try it. It seems to crash because of a socket error or something:

    2024-09-17 00:08:30.135 T:9247 error <general>: SOCK: Error selecting socket(s)
2024-09-17 00:08:30.135 T:9247 error <general>: ES: Exception caught while listening for socket
2024-09-17 00:08:30.136 T:9247 info <general>: ES: UDP Event server stopped
    2024-09-17 00:08:30.281 T:9154 info <general>: Loading skin file: /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.zidoo.zdmc/files/.kodi/addons/script.zidooplexmod/resources/skins/Main/1080i/script-plex-busy.xml, load type: LOAD_ON_GUI_INIT
    2024-09-17 00:08:30.524 T:9249 error <general>: JSONRPC Server: Select failed
2024-09-17 00:08:31.136 T:9247 info <general>: ES: Starting UDP Event server on port 9777
    2024-09-17 00:08:31.136 T:9247 info <general>: UDP: Listening on port 9777 (ipv6 : false)
    2024-09-17 00:08:31.526 T:9249 info <general>: JSONRPC Server: Successfully initialized

The one that finishes with _delay_after_stopping is when there is a delay where kodi 21 shows a freeze frame of the movie where it stopped before going back to ZidooPlexMod normally. No error popup appeared. Again, I think it's just kodi21 being bad on Z9x 8K. I think you can see the delay between these lines in the log:

    2024-09-17 00:15:50.267 T:13355 info <general>: script.plex: ZidooPlayer: Idling...
    2024-09-17 00:15:54.989 T:13230 info <general>: GL_VENDOR = ARM

In all the cases, the correct last position returned by the monitor is used per your log line where it says the time that it used and then I see the call to the plex server to update the position with the correct timestamp.

If that's satisfying and you have no more versions for me to test with logs, then I will remove kodi 21 and test with kodi 20.2 to see if I never see the popup and all seems fine.

@Creator44 thanks for the detailed testing. When Kodi crashes it usually doesn't get a chance to write the last traces out to the log so maybe those errors are an indication that things are going bad but I'm guessing it's not what caused the crash. As for the one with the delay, I think you're right in that the zidoo player must have hung up for a few seconds before returning to Kodi. Can you remind me, are you using Kodi 21 or ZDMC 21? And yes please try beta3 with ZDMC 20.2 to see how that works. Thanks.

Sorry, I meant ZDMC 21 and not Kodi 21 in all of my testing. Kodi 21 crashed every single time when I stopped a movie and I could not get a correct log if you remember correctly. ZDMC 21 crashes sometimes only when I stop a movie (but kinda often still) so I could get these logs.

Everything seems perfect with ZDMC 20.2 + ZidooPlexMod 0.3.10 beta 3 + PlexToZidoo 2.8 beta 5, no error popup ever and no delay or crashes, it works just like on the Z9X Pro now! :)

Thanks for your tenacity on this, I think you can make an official version now and I can test it out afterwards.

Will you make a ZidooPlexMod and PlexToZidoo version that will work correctly on both the Z9X Pro and Z9X 8K? I would like to get your updates later on both players but frankly if I never update the Z9X Pro it's also ok to me. I am nervous to update the Z9X Pro especially since it works correctly but if I can go back to any versions of ZidooPlexMod or PlexToZidoo then it would be ok.

My suggestion would be to go back to zip files and not use a repository because it forces the latest version OR use a repository but permit to install any version in a list on the repository for people that wants to go back to any prior version. I know that a repository permit auto updating though but sometimes you don't want auto-updating. Is there a way to prevent auto-updating of add-ons in ZDMC?

Awesome, thanks for testing. I'll work on the official versions and get those up hopefully later tonight.

Yes, the updates will work with both.

You can turn off auto update in the repo if you want. Go to "Install from repo" -> "bowlingbeeg.kodi" -> "Video add-ons" -> "ZidooPlexMod" then toggle the "Auto-update" off. Also on that same screen you can go to "Versions" and install any version you want, all he way back to 0.2.0. I don't suggest that but it's there.

Added support for the new Z9X 8K models. Thanks to @Creator44 for all of his testing. You'll need to update both ZidooPlexMod and PlexToZidoo for it to work on the Z9X 8K line. Both of these new versions are backward compatible so the older models will work as well. Let me know if you have issues.

Can the upper and lower positions of recently added TV shows and recently added movies be reversed?
    Which configuration should be modified?

Are you talking about the hub rows on the home screen? If so then no they can't be moved. I believe that's on to do list for the PM4K project that this project is forked from. You can follow along with that work here, https://forums.plex.tv/t/pm4k-plexmod-for-kodi-18-19-20-21/481208

    Hi,
problems with sync to Plex Server:
2 of 3 TV-Show I've watched are still marked as unwatched.

No such problems with previous versions.

Can you please capture the Kodi debug log for one of the times where it fails to update the watched status?

Did you just watch these 2 tv shows or did you watch them a while ago and it's just not showing the information correctly on the latest zidooplexmod?

Also, are you talking about entire tv shows watched or just episodes?
