OTA Update v1.6.15

I seen your post while browsing around, I had came across this interesting article, however, please draw your own conclusions. I’m certainly not aware of its accuracy or authenticity, so please make it what you will, certainly sounds correct, however certainly NO guarantees ,

My A6 was working perfectly until the last 2-3 updates. Now I have lost the "Library" section on the app, now I have to use the "screen" to access Library so I can update and rebuild.

Also the way it handles multi-disc albums has changed somewhere because now I have many albums that don't show covers on the "Albums" view, even though most of the time they do show in the next page (as pictured below)



Also, some will have a random image from a folde, like a rear cover image.

I've tried rebuilding the library a few times but it doesn't always help. Closing the app and re-opening can sometimes make them show up but there are still some stubborn ones that persist.

I don't use the actual hardware unit to search but from what I've tried it is all working OK, it seems to be an issue with the app.

I'm using the Android app version 1.15.65

 

Whats really annoying is that the CD rip function seems to be based not on the same algo/database, because often it finds no artist/album info, but I can see the play icon with the proper cover in the right upper corner.
So if I play the CD regulary, the info is available, but not in the ripper...

 

I whent through somewhat of a hard time yesterday morning , use caution with upgrades, in my experience in Personal opinion only, the version you are currently using seemed or appeared to work well with guys using here, I would try a factory reset, I know it’s an inconvenience, however, you most likely would not have anything to lose with the exception of a little bit of time,

I performed a few myself I believe the last one was in March of this year. I have personally found most of the time. This did absolutely rectify most anyone going problems I’ve had with the A8 which thankfully has been very few I have also found that Apple Music At fault a few times But clearly straightened out on its own within a few days or less. However, if I’m correct, you’re a problem appears to be ongoing. Again, I believe I would try to start fresh and perform a complete reset as I have personally found this absolutely put everything back in proper working order for lack of better terminology ,

I’m currently using V 1.5.75 , seems very stable, I’m NOT updating or upgrading. within use on my A8, Yes you are correct in regards to the updates or upgrades Within my personal opinions, also I have seen one guys unit work very correctly, and just the opposite with another, but from past experiences if there’s definite problems, there’s problems on all model's regardless, very best of luck ,

On the Play CD, I reverted from version 1.6.15 to 1.5.75; it sounds much better and runs significantly cooler.

 

I Believe it ,However the temptation to upgrade always leaves me wondering, untill I consider the possibility’s and potential consequences in thought, however, it certainly appears to operate and perform correctly for a few do the best of my observations, but I’m good I’ll keep 1.5.75 as long as possible, just personal opinion only, Good day

Agree, I have stepped back to v 1.5.75 and it is more stable and sounds better. Factory reset and USB updates work well but a bit tedious. With over 40,000 files it also takes a while to rebuild the library, but no problems now.
I was attracted by the new room correction improvements in 1.6.15 but it seemed to introduce problems identifying the Eversolo mic, which negates any potential RC software improvements.
With v 1.6.15 RC does work via the Eversolo mic connected to my phone but there is no way to access the calibration files - this is definitely not recommended. Even if the phone could access the calibration files, RC via the app is inferior to connecting the mic to the Eversolo unit directly IME.

 

If they released an update containing just the full-screen orange VU meter from version 1.6.15, web browser control from a PC, and the progress buffer, I’d personally be very happy. But I know that’s asking a lot, haha.

 

Hi Felix, you can basically accomplish that on your own. Yes they are out there VU accessories, there are quite a few companies that make them very attractive. VU output meters that change many various colors, including your personal preference some of them even with LEDs quite inexpensively I might add, 50/60 Dollars douk audio I believ I have the incorrect name or spelling IDK,

you can also perform web browsing from any PC or halfway decent laptop. If I’m following you correctly, we do it here all the time. so for a few bucks and a couple add-ons why wait to take a chance, those items are readily and very available again for extremely reasonable cost. And these little add-ons, you always have as your journey into the foreseeable future no pun intended whatsoever a most certain maybe you had given us some thought some of these VU meters I’ve seen even have a remote control. You can sit there and change colors to your hearts, content. Nothing wrong with it. People do it all the time seeing your post. Just thought I’d give you a holler, very easily obtainable take a peek iAmazon , ;-)

Regarding the differences in sound quality, I did a test this morning and can confirm that tracks downloaded from Qobuz and played from the internal SSD sound worse than the same tracks streamed via Qobuz Connect. I believe it used to be the other way around?
Settings: Volume passthrough, no EQ, no roomcorrection, EOS enabled.

Edit: Qobuz Connect still has the skipping and stopping in the middle of a track problem...

 

I used a few other streaming services, throughout the years , personally speaking only , I found Apple Music to be the best of the bunch, sonically speaking I could absolutely detect, no Audible sound Quality differences, also employing several different DAC units to make absolutely certain perhaps us guys maybe perhaps overlooking something. Apple also offers and almost endless selection of music, and other source material, however when using the ROON core, there were absolutely detectable differences within the overall sonics Quality to the music , dynamics are indeed somewhat better overall clarity channel to channel separation general, focus, almost pinpoint accuracy. however Roon is definitely not faultless in overall operational performance and function at times , in specific areas, all these streaming services overall basically sounded very good satisfactory, however in opinion only absolutely no better no worse, no gain no loss over the use of Apple Music, this decision was concluded after a several ongoing weeks last winter, in performing a continuous comparison amongst a few listeners here, also just about all of these so-called high-Res files, with a complete and fair evaluation in comparison absolutely performed or sounded no better than Apple Lossless operating system, all output levels precisely calibrated, matched tested in performing all comparisons, of matters in actual fact findings,

I belief The majority of times I actually believe most albums or source material the Apple Music source actually sound it somewhat better. all subjective listening was performed using extremely high output revealing very analytical and detailed audio systems, using extremely high efficiency speakers which will always reveal at most times the slightest deviation or change or any adjustment altered in almost any areas that was changed within the system itself, naturally this is just my personal opinion however, if you are looking for somewhat of an upgrade in streaming Quality sonics in reference reproduction playback , purely from my past experiences and opinion, I would say most likely your true option at this particular time would be , Again the Roon Core offerings has indeed absolutely been proven sonically superior, However also brings a much higher cost ratio. the old saying you get what you pay for, how true most unfortunately , absolutely nothing‘s perfect , In again proceeding to go on one on one with Apple Music is somewhat a Very tough contender to beat in the long run, this was somewhat very disappointing also interesting. I would certainly encourage one to conduct and perform your own comparison within total evaluation, I think most definitely in stating most seasoned listeners extremely surprised, this decision in evaluation, comparisons and findings were based purely on sonic play back Quality only , respectfully speaking …
