I just ordered an A8 and have a question as to how the A8 handles an external DAC. If I use the I2S from the A8 to my Gustard R-26 Dac, Will I then need to connect the RCA out from the DAC to the power amp? My Amp only has one input. Will I have to change the cabling each time I switch between the A8 internal DAC and the external Gustard R26 DAC? Thanks in advance.
When you want to switch between the internal A8 DAC and the Gustard; yes you will need to switch the rca cables if your amp only has 1 in. Solution would be introduce a rca switch eg Douk MC1022 is $25 or go for an expensive switch from Decware at $500 - anything in between will do to
Yep... I was afraid of that. Oh well. I usually listen to the best sounding one anyway. It would be nice to A/B them though. Thanks
I received my R8 yesterday. I am in love with this new device. Prior to covid, I was using a Yamaha surround receiver when I revived my Technics turntable. Since then , I have moved back into a stereo only setup. I lost the HDMI connection for audio. I was having to use the optical out from my LG OLED for TV audio. The R8 has changed that for the better. I am now utilizing the R8's ARC input from the ARC output from my LG. Now, the sound from my TV is on par with my Oppo CD player. I have always enjoyed YouTube performance videos and now they sound great! I am wondering if I could use simple Y splitters into my amp. Since the R8 has dedicated outputs, (only 1 output is active at a time) could I use the splitters 2 female to one male at the amp and switch between the internal and external DACs?
