Well, it could be possible as they may be preparing a new device release since most of them are gone for the last two months or so!!

The latest chipset is the S905X5M-K. The “-K” suffix adds DTS audio support, Widevine L1 DRM certification
Wether there is a later version out or ……
But the normal 2 year cycle of Zidoo media players is due now coming june - august release.

But Zidoo may extend it to 3 year cycle ?

I was also thinking the same...its been two years now so hopefully a new one soon, but moving a new chipset will bring new challenges, do you know if the other makers have or will adopt this new soc?

Before releasing a new player, they should fix the current lineup, which has been riddled with bugs ever since it was released. After two years, the current lineup is far from perfect. Frankly, I'm fed up and tired. Buying a new player would mean starting over and discovering new bugs, with biblical resolution times!

Please tell me what bugs you are currently seeing?

Random stutters and freezes. When I pause the movie and then resume it after ten minutes, it always stutters. I have to turn the player off and on again, but it doesn't always work. Until last night, I had to restart it twice before it would work normally again. I didn't have these problems with the previous firmware.

Some makers already have adopted this new chipset so going forward id imagine we would now get usb -c connectivity
Newer Bluetooth profile , Android one of the later versions . Bigger display window Oled ?

Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and Android 14 AOSP.

Surely quite interesting features but nobody knows when Zidoo will get involved.

Well this is the time that rumours / speculations start coming out as new media boxes make them the money so unless they change there usual stance it should be coming soon .

That will be the end of the current firmware fixes.

The S905X5 is just the latest iteration of the X905 range from 2016 - it of course builds on the previous X4, but it's still just a 4K SoC for mainstream TV boxes.

    There's a comparison with the S4 here:

As far as I know, there are no new 8K STB SoCs imminent so don't expect new Zidoo media players anytime soon.

Given the total lack of updates for months, I don't think anything will change even if a new line of media players were to come out. They won't update anyway...

I totally feel the frustration...but it's not necessary to totally reboot the box. If I'm in a position where I know stutters are probable (like coming back from an extended pause), I simply back out of HT5 and use the box's native CLEANSWEEP app.. I've even pinned it on the homescreen. When you jump back into HT5, the movie you were just watching is right there to click on and resume...It takes 10 seconds and ensures stutter free playback..

I've never tried it and I didn't know about it, but it's still not normal that every time I pause a movie, I have to exit HT5 and launch the Cleanweep app to fix it. Most of us have had these problems for a long time, and after months and months, even two years, they haven't been able to create a stable firmware for everyone. It's simply unthinkable!

    A
A Working Music player with support for flac, atmos etc would suffice!
4k would be a nice addition.

Not quite sure what you're saying - the 905 is a 4K SoC - it's a lower spec than the 928 and the previous 922 and there's no reason to create a new player using it (unless it's a budget one).

If you get stutter "every time I pause a movie" then that's not normal.

I have a Z9X 8K, a Z30 Pro and a UHD8000 with NAS, local and USB sources and simply pausing a file does not induce stutter.

The only circumstances in which I can induce stutter is if the screensaver kicks in whilst pausing and this is a well known bug that's easy to work around (disable screensaver on pause or disable the screensaver globally).

I've reported this bug to the devs from day 1 but so far it has been ignored which is why I take a pragmatic approach and simply disable the screensaver on pause which cures it completely.

There are most definitely other issues with stuttering which, after a lot of work with @rockmeloman, I think is attributable to VS10 in some way, but it's not related to pausing.

Hi Mark its a little out of the norm for not a new player coming ……
Thats a first for Zidoo normal cycle is every two years is it the Eversolo range are the more profitable market now it seems .?

I think the problem is not Zidoo, it's the SoC manufacturers - they're all pulling away from STBs - Sigma did it first, then Realtek and now AML seem to be going the same way - the media player market has always been niche and it's getting smaller. So it's simply a case of no new SoCs being released.
