    Hi Guys
I have been trying different movies all 4k format the only issue I have noticed it plays - ISO - BDMV movie folders and 4k MKV files with out issues. But it doesn't play MP4 4K Movies .

There must be an issue with the mp4 container support. I have tried the same MP4 Movie on my Dune HD Homatics Box R 4k Plus using Kodi and that plays ok so the problem is with the inbuilt player and Codecs on
Zidoo Z9X 8K. I have installed the latest firmware version , but that as not fixed the issues with Playback MP4 4K files.

Please can you help me solve these issues.

    Cheers Guys

MP4 containers are supported (though not recommended) so presumably it's an unsupported codec.

Can you provide a MediaInfo report on one of the offending files.

I forgot to say if I covert the same movie file to MKV Container Zidoo excepts it and plays ok just strange it doesnt like MP4 this should be an easy fix by applying more codecs to Zidoo player for more support

I suspect it might be to do with the file containing TrueHD which isn't officially supported in MP4.

It's not about "applying more codecs" - MP4 is a container, not a codec.

As I alluded to earlier, MP4, although supported by Zidoo in its compliant form, is a poor container to use these days and definitely not recommended - MKV is the way to go.

Thanks for getting back to me, just a bit strange Kodi can handle it playback mp4 with the included TrueHD I have also did some tests myself and compressed the video file only to smaller size to take up less storage on my Nas server and used dvdfab and also handbrake and included all audio presets passthrough so just the video gets encoded again Kodi plays ok Zidoo always failed playing ?? also I have recoded the video this time with out truehd just ac3 for sound again zidoo failed to play back the movie

As I say, it's not the MP4 container that the Zidoo doesn't like, it's what's inside it.

Personally I'd forget about MP4 as a container and always use MKV - it's been decades since MP4 was of any relevancy.

Also, quick tip - ditch DVDFab as well - it used to be good in the early 2000's but these days it's an expensive, bloated, hamstrung mess - Handbrake is ok (not that I'd use it), but I'd recommend Staxrip for encoding.

But MP4 to MKV simply needs remuxing with MKVToolnix - no encoding needed unless some mad codec is used.

I have used Staxrip still use it now good free program but Dvdfab is quicker to encode and side by side comparison after encoding both seem the same in quality DVDFAB is a lot quicker you get faster FPS quicker encoding time.

You can also use "Pavtube Video Converter Ultimate" which is also quicker. I have been using this for years without issues. Try IT.

Many of those programs re-encode but all you need is to put the mp4 file you have in a mkv container. No encoding or processing. Use MKVToolnix as Mark suggested. Takes a few minutes. As MKVToolnix does not process or alter the original in any way quality in equals quality out.
