With all home theater or media devices I've owned, I've always found it difficult to manage consistently and on a long term basis the "watched" status. Zidoo does not make it really easier, but mostly because instead of exporting / importing when changing the model, I set it up from scratch. Because of this, I'm manually moving movies from one folder to another on my server (from unwatched to watched). But can't do this for series, especially the ongoing ones - and for the ones I've stopped watching a long time ago, I can't remember where I stopped... I've just upgraded Z1000 Pro to Z2000 Pro (and am happy about it, much much more responsive!), I've lost that information once again. My questions : On Zidoo, is there a way to bunch-update the watched status? Multi select, or on a given source folder, for ex? Using the mobile app, or using McBluna's Home Theater DB Tool (I haven't tried it yet - that would probably rely on folder stored NFOs?). And also, how are you guys managing this on a long term basis? Are you exporting your config when upgrading to a new device? Or relying on NFOs? Many thanks in advance for your answers
I had a look at the API available through HTTP on port 9529. The documentation page has some watched fields shown, but when I tried to get that info (let alone modify it), I could not get it to work. One would probably have more luck reverse engineering the protocol than reading the docs. So, in theory, it should be possible to retrieve the "watched" information and save it somewhere. It will be also present in the database backups. How you would go about using that information to update the state of the database on a new machine? I dunno!
