Hi there, I'm using the Jellyfin (BETA) app on the Play and it keeps losing settings. Sometimes it is just a login and other times is it the server IP and port as well. I've tried resetting and it isn't resolving the issue. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

maybe because it is a BETA...? Asking on their forum looks like a better choice to me...

Hmm. I'm pretty sure that this App was developed by Eversolo internally, using the Jellyfin API and is specific to this set of products. I have JellyFin clients running on several other platforms and I don't have this issue. Previously, prior to the latest update, everything was working correctly and credentials were saved between sessions as expected. I get that BETA means this might still require tweaks to work as expected. I doubt I'd find an EverSolo user on the JellyFin forum who'd be kind enough to respond to this question with a meaningful answer. It's more likely that there is an EverSolo owner who is running JellyFin who may have come across this problem.

Then, the only thing possible, IMHO, is that this BETA has somehow broken the save-settings thingy...
See if Kim of Zidoo support can chime in...

A further update: After performing another factory reset, things are now different! Now Jellyfin uses the QuickConnect code to authorise the app - which is great, thanks for that! It's early days but everything seems to work correctly.

Now the only thing left is to try and figure out why the cover.jpg isn't displayed when playing an album track when the track file (FLAC) doesn't include an embedded image.

Update: I spoke too soon. Although the above session ran well, switching the mobile app to another Play unit and then later back to this one ended up with an "Unknown Error" and being unable to connect to it. On a mobile app restart and a second try I received the WOL message even though everything is on WiFi. After a restart of the Play unit (not a reset), everything worked fine although I needed to login again as the credentials were missing and used QuickConnect. Just for information when I tried logging in using the id and password they resulted in a login failed message even though I know them to be correct. This is definitely a BETA app!

A further update. I've now had chance to test this more thoroughly and it seems the the authentication being done by the Play unit has problems. My Jellyfin server runs on a QNAP and after checking the logs they are spammed with invalid token and authentication errors. I'm not sure what is going on exactly but Jellyfin works well with my other devices and the Play unit works well with other sources. Having two Play units and switching between them with my mobile app depending upon where I am in the house might also be part of the problem. Using the QuickConnect code on the physical unit appears to work correctly. Reconnecting on the mobile app later is where issues start. First the connection credentials/token appear to disappear most of the time, logging in with the correct credentials fails, logging in with id and password on the unit no longer works only the QuickConnect method works now. On my second unit I've had to do a couple of restarts for it to work as it seems to get into a state where it ignores the mobile app.

Hi! Got the same problem if I hit the home button I get disconnected from my Jellyfin session and I need to reconnect. That's very frustrating.
Sad that the project is not open source so we could try to see what is wrong & maybe come up with a fix.

Hi @hugobsh, in my case there were several things at play. First I have two Play units, second I have several other devices Apple, Android etc. that also connect to the same Jellyfin server. It seems that there is an issue with the Play units and sessions. I had to create new Jellyfin accounts for each of my Play units for their sole use. So now I have three accounts, one for each Play unit and the other shared by all the other devices. Following that there was a software update and then I did a factory reset on both units. There was the hassle of setting everything up again but then reconnection to the Jellyfin server went smoothly using Quickconnect. Since then everything has been fine (~2 weeks now) and this is with daily use of both units. I'm not sure if the factory resets were absolutely necessary. I hope this helps.

    Hello Paul,

Thanks for your detailed response, I will definitly try your workaround. I’m also in contact with the support so they can have a feedback and address the issue in the correct way.

    Have a good day.
