Hi all, I have a Z1000 Pro, running FW: v6.4.68 and HT: 5.0.68 When I start the device and go straight to poster wall, it initially displays 'Loading posters, please wait…' and then correctly shows my 'watching' and 'recently added' movies and series. However, after a few seconds, it reverts to displaying content I added and watched some time ago. No matter what I watch or add now, it keeps reverting to this outdated list. In HT5 settings, I have 'recently added sort' set to 'Date added'. As mentioned, the correct data appears briefly on start-up, but then the poster wall seems to load a cached list that's stuck in time. I've tried clearing both 'match history' and 'image' cache but neither made any difference. This has been driving me crazy for weeks now! I've searched extensively through the forums but couldn’t find a solution. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any help or suggestions would be hugely appreciated! Many thanks in advance. i3>HC
One set of data displaying as HT boots up and then another set seemingly appearing afterwards is usually a temporal difference between sources becoming available - do you have more than one source? Sorting by Date Added can be extremely unreliable depending how the database was created - I suggest you change to Date Modified. The ideal would be Date Created but for some reason that is not an option, so Modified is the next best thing.
Thank you Mark ! I have two sources, an internal HDD and an external drive via USB, but I could swear this used to work correctly ... I originally had it set to 'modified' and only changed to 'date added' recently, but that was after the problem had already begun, while trying to find a solution. Interestingly, I thought the issue started not long after I uploaded a fix I found here to resolve a problem when scraping stopped working. As mentioned, the correct 'recently added' and 'watching' data displays briefly on start-up for a few seconds before it gets replaced by this outdated list, it's ever so frustrating ! Any ideas how to fix this if it's due to the external drive, as I intend to add another soon? If not, what might be causing this and where could this phantom data be cached? Thanks again for your help!
After the expected listings have disappeared, do they still appear in the library? For example - the last movie you added presumably appears briefly as the first in the newly added list. It is then replaced by older movies, but does that new movie still appear in the main poster wall?
Yes, they still appear. Thanks again for your help, Mark, I think you're spot on regarding the two sources! Fingers crossed there's a way to fix this, though. Otherwise, wouldn't most people using units with both internal and USB sources, or multiple USB connected drives, have the same issue ? Really appreciate you taking the time to help me with this.
Is this issue documented or discussed anywhere in the forums? Is there a workaround to fix this, or is inaccurate data the price to pay for using multiple drives and taking advantage of the USB ports? I really appreciate any help, information or suggestions. Thanks in advance.
It’s not something I’ve come across before - the fact that the new content appears in the database but is shown prior to older content usually means that the database has been rescanned - this is why Date Added is not really a great idea - Ok if you NEVER rebuild your database but useless beyond that. As I say, that’s why I use Modified Time. You can even use a batch process to change all files’ Modified Time to be the same as Created Time if you want. Im not sure what the cause is in your case, but I would make a backup of the database, open the file (it’s a zip) and inspect the .db file in there - it’s a SQLite database, easy to look at, and see if anything is awry with the added_time field. I forget which table it’s in - the video files table probably - I’m afk for a week so can’t tell you more.
Hi Mark, I'm sorry to have to bother you again but things have really gone from bad to worse! Following your advice, I did have a look at the .db file with Notepad++ but nothing stood out. To be honest, I'm probably not tech-savvy enough to make sense of what I was looking at. After conducting some experiments, like adding content to the internal HDD, watching from there and so on, I've come to the definite conclusion that the issue isn't what we thought. It appears to be corrupted data somewhere that's overwriting the correct information. I even fully removed the external USB drive but that made no difference whatsoever. What's more, the box won't scan either drive properly now. It starts the scan and then just stops randomly without completing it. I'm think the issue occurred when I upgraded the firmware or HT, as I have the screensaver set to 1 minute to protect my OLED TV from screen burn. I must have accidentally pressed back or something, interrupting when it was updating or rescanning the database... I'm now considering wiping the internal HDD clean, keeping just the movie and series files (mainly .mkv) and upgrading to the Z3000 Pro. Do you have any thoughts on this and would you have any advice if I go ahead with it? Many thanks in advance.
The ADDED_TIME and MODIFIED_TIME are listed in the VIDEO_INFO table. They are in Epoch Time which can be converted to human time here: Epoch Converter - Unix Timestamp Converter I'm sure you can muddle through that - I'm not sure how Notepad++ works but I think it should be easy to figure that out.. I'd be interesting to see any discrepancies there, but yeah, it sounds like a corrupt database. No need to wipe any drives - probably best not to do that! Just reset HT (HT/Settings/Data Manager/Clear Data > CLEAR This completely deletes the database allowing you to rescan. If you want to keep the original data, export NFOs and art first (HT Settings/Library/Export data to NFO file > EXPORT) and then rescan with NFO precedence (HT/Settings/Preferences/NFO parse default option > Priority). It's always a good idea to export NFO's and art anyway.
Thank you so much Mark and apologies for the late reply. I've got guests staying until after the weekend but I'll try your suggestion as soon as they've left and let you know how I get on. Fingers crossed this will sort the issues once and for all … I really appreciate all your help and patience with this ! Many thanks again.
