Hello, I'm currently using an "old" zapitti which was flashed into a Zidoo following the demise of the company on my OLED Panasonic TX-55LZ1500. My question, reading different threads here and there, will I get an improvement image-wise if I change my hardware to a Z9X pro or 8k? My preference would have been to find a box that can decode ISO DV P7 but unfortunatly it doesn't seem to exist at this point... I do not plan on changing my screen, so the "8k" is only because there is a different chipset on it and potentielly a different picture at the end. Thanks
Although the old X9S still perform exceptionally well given their age, the difference between them and the 8K range is night and day. (I don't know how the Zappiti 1295 box performs with Zidoo firmware, but I have one here and it always performed like a dog with Zappiti firmware)
It does, if I knew I would have flashed the hardware much sooner -_-' What do you mean "night and day" ? Like colours, contrast, upscaling, everything in short or something in particular? So you would switch directly for 8k version and not the pro if I understood correctly? And what about DV P7? Is it worth it to try and get a hardware that can play it or the gap with P8 for instance isn't worth the trouble?
In short everything! Interface, HDR handling, Dolby Vision (correct P7 - P8 conversion in the 8K series) - the list goes on. I'd definitely get the 8K model as that's current, in development and as I say, correctly converts P7 to P8. I have a Ugoos which is the only media player that if using the correct version of CoreElec provides full FEL P7 playback, so I have the choice, and I use a Zidoo in my cinema. That tells you something I guess. Also, CoreElec doesn't support ISO playback. The Zidoo isn't perfect for BD ISO, but it's not far off!
Ok, thanks a lot, that was exactly the type of response I was looking for before deciding. I'll let you know when I plug in the Z9X 8k as for the moment it doesn't seem to be in stock in France.
The UK is no longer in EU, it's a pain to import stuff... Not Hell but since I'm in no rush I'll just wait patiently until it's back on stock (couple of weeks). Thanks
