Does the complexity of the video file have any influence, by that I mean a simple mkv that file contains just one video, one audio and one subtitle compared to a movie file with multiple audio and subtitles. ?

There is a separate issue with the lack of support for 7+ HD-Audio tracks in the file, but that's not what we're talking about now.

First thing I do whenever I obtain a mkv (meaning one I didnt rip myself) is use MKVToolNix to strip all non English audio and subtitle tracks. A lot of the ones you find online have so many audio and sub tracks to appeal to multiple languages and have worldwide usage, that it can cause problems in some players. At least that is what I read. I would recommend everyone doing the same for their files obtained online (for your own preferred language of course). I grabbed a movie recently that had over 20 audio tracks and 35 sub tracks.

I never had any issues with the Z9X, no matter how many audio tracks I played. I expected the same thing when I bought the more expensive and advanced Z30 Pro. If I wanted to edit files, I could use the TV's built-in player without having to buy a media box.

Then perhaps you should use the TV's built-in player?

Just offering a possible option to see if it helps. I have zero issues but please feel free to ignore it.

    Cheers.

I do exactly the same and have done for decades - just seems a bit pointless keeping languages I don't speak and will never use - especially when a lossless track can run to a few GB.

Stuttering also occurs with files that have a single audio track. So no, deleting it won't help. The lack of support for files with multiple audio tracks is an additional, separate issue. I didn't mean to offend you. I've simply heard this advice (deleting audio tracks) many times here. But it doesn't solve all the problems, even if I found the time to delete audio tracks from over a thousand files in my collection.
You see, I bought a media player specifically so I wouldn't have to worry about editing files, but so I could just insert a disc and play any file. Once again, I apologize if I was rude.

We all use them differently I guess - I started down the media player route way back when DVDs first came out and my reason was to get rid of DVD menus and just be presented with a curated collection without all the time wasting fluff that drove me insane. And of course not have to handle physical discs all the time.

As time went on I fell into ripping to MKV, removing all the crap I don't want and keeping my collection as tidy as possible, and when BluRay menus and all their inanity evolved, this became more and more important.

Just wish we could get to the bottom of your problem because I truly believe it's neither caused intrinsically by the box or your TV.

I don't even know Mark what it could be... Maybe I should try a 12v/3A power supply, like the Dune one?

Remind me - are you using an internal hard disc in the Z30 Pro? In the case of a file that stutters, what happens if you take the same file and copy it to a USB stick and plug that in?? Or access that same file via a network location (PC etc)?

SSD Samsung 860 EVO 2 TB. The same one I used with the Z9X.
Of course, I can wait until the media box becomes unstable (when this happens, everything I launch stutters until I restart the media box) and run something from a USB flash drive to see what happens. I'll give it a try, although testing is difficult right now, since we're without power for about half of each day (and sometimes up to 70% of the day).

I wonder if it's an overheating issue? Particularly as you say it seems to happen after using the box for a while.

One of the first things I noticed with my Z9X 8K, which used to sit on top on an HDFury Vertex2, was that it got a LOT hotter than the old Realtek boxes. I 3D printed some standoffs to raise it above the Vertex now it's fine, but these SoCs do seem to run hotter.

Ive been using Zidoo since the first X10 was released and used internal SSD from day one , with all and Never used the internal fan on the unit ……

and a family member also has the same over the same period of time and set up exactly like mine with numerous Ssd drive sizes 1tb , 2tb and now 2x 4tb one inside & one outside etc .

Never had stuttering issues they all play without any major faults
    Both on latest firmware .

Only thing i reboot box every day id say.

no overheating issues ssd do get warm but id say a hell of a lot hotter in say a laptop .

both using a LG oled Evo & Samsung drives & a av receiver no soundbar.

Zidoo often left on for 10 + hours still plays fine.

Considering the Z9X 4K's significant heat buildup, I periodically lifted the Z30 and placed the back of my hand on its underside during the summer. It felt less warm to the touch than the Z9X, so I was reassured. Furthermore, I was running firmware 1.2.22 during the summer, and playback was stable 99% of the time. I couldn't find any photos of the Z30's internals; perhaps the case has more metal, which is why it doesn't get as hot as your Z9X 8K.
Although it is also possible that the processor is raised above the bottom of the case and therefore does not heat the bottom plate

It was just a thought - as I say, the situation with the Z9X 8K was exacerbated by being on top of a Vertex 2 which although doesn't run hot, was its own source of heat too.

Yes, I agreed with you as both of my Z9X 8K boxes are running noticeably hotter than Z9X and Z9X Pro.

Did not read that bit vertex…..
But one of the Z30 Pro sits on top of a Sky ( Sly ) Q box and id imagine that gets warm as its on constant as such .

Ssd id imagine our made for constant heat how much before failure or issues i dont know ……
But like my previous post laptops get really hot like iphones etc but they
do shut down ( iphones )ive noticed during hot summers or on beach with brigtness to the max.

Maybe remove vertex ( as in disconnect ) see if the vertex is causing stuttering etc
Or is the cause heat but i have my doubts .

No, I'm not getting stuttering - I just wasn't happy with the temperature the Z9X 8K was getting to when it was directly on top of the Vertex.

It's now raised about 3cm above it and quiesces at about 29 degress in a 20 degree room.

I have a Thermal imaging camera
if i remember will bring home with me and see how much heat its producing while on with a movie on just to see what temp is displayed .

This may have, and quite possibly, been asked before, but I've searched for an answer and unable to find it.
I have a question about Movie Collections sorting, is it possible to manually sort a collection somehow, for example, the Star Wars collection.

The collection sorts by years, but I would like it to be sorted in the Episode number I - IX.
    Can anyone please help?
