Where are these files located and have you tried to inspect them with MeduaInfo? I’ve located on file Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings that displays an animated background. But no additional files in the movie folder

You must first activate in the settings that dynamic backgrounds are saved in the same directory as the movie files.
If one is available for a movie, it will be automatically downloaded.

Yes, very true, we are talking about unavailable source and not missing deleted movies.

The screenshots from my previous post are showing 10 ghost movies while all drives are still connected. Most of my 3D ISO files show those multiple copies. Only one of tags (A, B, C…) shows all media tags and it will play. I’m sure I didn’t delete them 10 times but I probably moved them multiple times to a larger drives and newer NAS devices over the time. It appears that every change is stamped as new entry in the database. If I toggle it off, it all goes back to normal as single entry per movie. If the drive is off all those movies from that drive disappear. We need to keep that set on and don’t worry about old multiple entries in the database.

Anyway we got the first step in the right direction.

Maybe that’s why the database is loading slow from checking each and every movie if still present on the source.

As I said, database housekeeping has been terrible in the past - these new versions of HT include a lot of database revisions, but it remains to be seen whether housekeeping has been improved, but certainly starting from a clean database definitely reaps rewards.

Hi @Markswift2003, can you define a clean database? Is it back up, delete the data and restore from backup or wipe everything out, scrape from scratch and fix everything again?

There are probably many different ways to go about cleaning up the database including exporting to nfo files. Let’s see if Zidoo can correct unavailable source as defined path and ignore hundreds of file shadows left behind from any file path changes.

Essentially, reset HT and rescrape from scratch. If you use a backup, you're backing up and restoring all the crap that was in the database in the first place.

I use NFOs and local art so I can reset HT and get back to where I was in minutes, but there are caveats - you don't get relational info on cast & crew and you lose played status, but I don't care about any of that.

I probably reset the database on my test box daily and I also keep the one I use for real in the cinema very clean - the result is a very fast HT experience.

Last question is exporting to nfo preserve collection information?

I haven’t done exporting to nfo since this would clatter my sources with small files including posters and artwork. I don’t maintain one directory per movie. All movies are in one directory on a single drive. The number of large files that fits on 8TB or larger disk is manageable. All info and artwork stays on Zidoo internal drive for faster access.

Yes it does - if you make a backup and then export NFO/Art, you can give it a try - worst case you get back to where you are now with the backup.

For reference, I have 9 sources on several NAS drives - 3 x 4K, 4 x 2K and 2 x Documentaries of different resolutions. Every movie/doco is in its own directory and all content is MKV.

So i installed this on my Z9X and i am having issues.
    1. Resolution keeps jumping around. For example i click on a movie to get to its detail page. It looks fine at first but after several seconds sort of zooms and cuts off the top and bottom of all the image.
    2. Much more important issues, no movies will play. I click on a movie, get a black screen then after like 30 seconds says file cant be played. Movies worked fine prior to updating.

If there any way to get the video wall rebuilt?

I have many more movies than what is displayed under "All". It's saying 379 and that is a fraction of the total.

If I go into sources and play a movie that wasn't showing, it appears when I go back and check.

How can I get it to refresh the whole wall? If I tell it to update a source it thinks it has nothing to do, each shows the total movies detected and each source has more than 379

Thanks for the new version/beta of HT. The performance improvements esp. when browsing devices are very much appreciated (though still not particular snappy with 16,000 videos on a device)

    There are some issues though:
    • It gets stuck when scanning, which is somewhat of a showstopper. I don't have automatic scanning enabled and do it manually (given it can take a long time). Each device is a Windows (SMB) share. Scanning seems to get stuck at different, but similar, points (maybe some async/multiple scanning threads thing means there isn't a perfectly consistent scanning order?). Through (a lot of) trial and error, maybe the issue is related to the number of unmatched files? I found that if I removed a particular folder containing BD rips of movies with around 20-30 extras per movie, that I have removed the matching info for, then the scan succeeded. Bringing back the unmatched files a few at a time, it seems that if the difference between matched files and total files reaches 104 it gets stuck. If it's 103, then the scan completes. It doesn't seem to be an issue with a specific file because I can change the combination of files that would make up that 104 unmatched, and in each case it hangs, but remove any one file to bring it back to 103 and the scan completes.
    • Using folder filtering when scanning (which I tried in the hope of getting a completed scan due to the above issue) doesn't just scan the allowed folders, it actually removes entries from the folders selected not to scan. That's not clear at all. I thought the feature limited where to scan for new/changed files, not that it would remove anything from folders not scanned.
    • In the "Watching" section, if there is more than one season in a TV collection then it just shows the main TV show background image thumbnail not a thumbnail for the "up next" episode. That's fine I guess, but more importantly it doesn't show progress in the currently watching season, and selecting it navigates to the season list, not the episode list of the currently watching season.
    • In the "Watching" section, if a TV show only has one season then it does show the progress, but the progress is completely wrong. I have watched one episode of an 8 episode season, but the progress shows almost half way (progress used to be wrong before too in that each episode seemed to be a 'point' along the progress bar, rather than each episode being a segment, eg. if I've watched 2 of 4 episodes, I'd expect it to show 1/2 filled progress not a 2/3 filled progress, or if I've watched 3 of 4 I'd expect 3/4 filled progress not completely filled. I expect it to show what I've watched, not what episode is up next).
    • The "Favourites" widget sorting is... I don't know what it is, but it's not the "Poster name" alpha sorting it used to be (which is what it is when I navigate to "More")
    • When browsing shows/posters I have it set to list mode with alphabetical navigation enabled. As I scroll down the list of shows sometimes the alphabetical navigation list highlights a completely incorrect letter. eg. I scrolled to "11.22.63" and it highlighted "M", and "Adolescence" highlighted "L", "Code of Silence" highlighted "S". There doesn't appear to be any logic to it.
    • When browsing within devices, since Page Up/Down don't work (it'd be nice if they did), there was always the trick of pressing up at the top of the list to go to the bottom. That doesn't work anymore because up goes to the "Show only unmatched videos" option, and up from there does nothing.
    • When browsing within devices it now shows a "Loading Posters, please wait" popup each time when navigating to a folder/dir, which prevents further input. eg. once I'm done with whatever I was doing deep within some dir hierarchy, I used to be able to quickly press back/return a bunch of times to immediately return to the main devices list, or to the main interface. I can't do that anymore. I have to wait for the pop up at each stage.
    • As I mentioned above, I have it set to list mode. It no longer has the little eye icon in each list entry if it's partially or completely watched.
    • In the main interface as I navigate to watching entries the selected one gets slightly larger. I'm not sure if it only happens when there are multiple watching entries, but it seems that after watching an episode of say the 2nd entry in the watching list, when I return back to the main interface the search/magnifying glass icon at the top-left is selected, not the show that I just watched, and entries in the watching list are left zoomed/larger as they would be if they were still selected, but they're not.
    • Navigating through movies/TV shows quickly in list mode can leave the details on the right hand side out-of-sync with the selected item in the list. This is similar to the issue I reported in 4.3.40 (fixed in 4.3.52) when navigating between episodes of a TV season where the path (with "Show path in detailed view" enabled) wouldn't always update to the currently selected episode, except in this case it's not just one detail that's stale, it's everything. Actually, I don't think this is new. I think 4.3.52 did this too.
    A couple of requests:
    • Make page up/down work in more places/everywhere, eg. when browsing devices contents, or in the seasons list of a TV show (given 22 "8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown" series, or 69 "Have I Got News for You" series, being able to page through them would help), or even in the episode list. Page up/down working in the poster/background list when changing poster would help (as might having season specific posters first in the list when changing the poster for a season). Page up/down, or being able to go up at the top to jump to the bottom or down at the bottom to jump to the top, doesn't work in the device scan folder filter list.
    • Be able to mark individual movie instances as watched or unwatched, similar to what's possible with episodes of a TV season. eg. I might have a couple of different versions of the same movie, such as a 1080p version and a UHD version, or maybe a web rip and a BD rip, or a theatrical and directors cut. From the top-level poster/list navigation I can set them all to (un)watched or within the movie details I can use the eye icon at the top-right to set them all to (un)watched, but AFAICT I can't set individual movie instance entries. I can set something to watched by watching it of course, but I can't unwatch it.

    TMDB or TVDB?
Ok here in Sydney but I only use TMDB for both TV and movies.

Well, just did the upgrade to the beta version. It took around 2 minutes

Unfortunately, I have no wall at all after that. Sources are still there, with thumbnails and the right identification but there is nothing on the main screen of HT.

Glad to know that I made a backup before as recommended by the authors…

I tried the version for the 8K model before and had this issue. When playing DV content, the screen just goes black — it’s like it freezes. I thought it was because that version wasn’t designed for the Z9X, but even with this version for the Realtek 1619DR, it’s still happening.

    Zidoo Z9X
    SDR ONLY CUSTOM EDID
HDR Mode: Use VS10 for SDR, HDR, and DV

    Request:
Would it be possible to add a “Clear Progress” option in Continue Watching?

To those who have been using this new version, would you recommend installing this update or should I wait until some additional bugs are worked out? I'd like that additional snappiness but I've seen some mention certain titles no longer showing up and trouble matching, etc.
