Ok - interesting - I get the same crash on HT5 v4.3.52 as I do on the Alpha v4.3.70 if "Poster Folder" is set to "Priority save to device"

So it's not the fault of the new code in the Alpha!

I have the setting for custom folder and its the default disc in the player. I will try to make a cler to see it that can help on UHD8000

I had today my first crash. It was updating/scraping my hdd's as it discovered new content...and started at the same time a trailer.
Screen froze...scraping stopped/finished..trailer played a little..UI crashed to home screen

How many titles in the database and are you using Custom Folder for "HT/Settings/Poster Folder" and if not, which setting are you using?

    Good morning

I have 1146 titles. I was replacing some of my old DVD's with a Blu-ray version.

I use priority save to custom folder. ( Saves to a SanDisk USB). I use local art work and trailers.

Hmm - there is a bug in HT that I've just passed to the devs - if a large library is scanned (in my tests, 4000 titles) and the Poster Folder is set to "Priority save to device" then HT crashes back to its home screen after say 1400/1500 titles scanned and then shows the scan at 0/4000 afterwards despite having got to 1400/1500 before the crash. If you continue the scan those first 1400/1500 titles are scanned through very quickly and then it continues.

Did you scan results return to 0/1146 after the crash?

In my tests, using Custom Folder, but leaving it at the default location in internal storage didn't exhibit this problem.

Your library is in the right ballpark and feasibly this may not be to do with the selection of "Priority save to device" but may be just having the Poster Folder anywhere except internal storage. I'll test that today.

Edit - ok scratch that - Setting an external Custom Folder (USB) is fine and completes the scan. It only appears to be if you set it to "save to device".

It was perfectly normal afterwards. All movies availble...and it seemed to have scanned the new movies.

Today I had a similar situation, but no crash or problem ( scanning and trying to auto play trailer at same moment)

I guess just one of those things - unusual to see HT crash though... (other than this new "save to device" problem).

    >Yesterday i did a new test on my UHD 5000
I first click on clear and then on factory reset of the machine, i reconfigure the settings and updated the HT (.52 version) and then added a disc.
First i tried to go for tv shows and that worked okej, not fast but okej.
Then i added one more drive with movies and started to index them into HT, it scans the disc fast and then start to match to TMDB it starts and look okej but no number added as completed and after running over night it had stopped. And only got 54 movies of 1500. I started again and still running slow.
Then i tested to download a subtile and it found one and i click on that to store, it takes about 1-3minutes and then it was okej. I tested to change to store on local media but no differens.

I will try again on my UHD 8000 to see if there is any difference.

Its a strange problem. Is this networkbased or what can it be?
Im using SMB against an Synology NAS.

I don't think it can be the Synology NAS because that shouldn't matter for scraping and you say you've tried local media also.

It's got to be a network problem - either to do with TMDB access, internet access or possibly a duplicate IP address?

Do you have any idea what i can check?.
Did a factory reset on the machine and now running again, still dead slow to match movies and TV-series even TV is better. This makes me nuts.

today i have played around with my uhd5000 but nothing helps TMDB is not reponding or slow as hell. I have tried to change where images are stored tried to read nfo files but still problem.
It feels like something is wrong with the request against TMDB. I tried to connect the cable direct through the router to see if there were any local network issue buts its the same.
I can se a big difference when i select a movie and click change cover and when i click on a TV-show and do the same. TV comes direct but not TMDB for movies its spinning and spinning. Not usable at all.
In my head i must be problem with access to TMDB from the Zidoo device, from my pc or other tools it works perfect. Or if there are some problem with the access through the ISP but that sounds strange.

How can i test or any idea what i can do?

did a test to ping TMDB though my router:
    common_ping: hostname tmdb.com
    PING tmdb.com (185.107.56.204): 56 data bytes
    64 bytes from 185.107.56.204: seq=0 ttl=49 time=24.192 ms
    64 bytes from 185.107.56.204: seq=1 ttl=49 time=24.274 ms
    64 bytes from 185.107.56.204: seq=2 ttl=49 time=23.771 ms
    64 bytes from 185.107.56.204: seq=3 ttl=49 time=24.297 ms
    --- tmdb.com ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 0% packet loss
    round-trip min/avg/max = 23.771/24.133/24.297 ms

    and this is tvdb:
    common_ping: hostname tvdb.com
    PING tvdb.com (199.250.222.56): 56 data bytes
    64 bytes from 199.250.222.56: seq=0 ttl=46 time=111.823 ms
    64 bytes from 199.250.222.56: seq=1 ttl=46 time=111.560 ms
    64 bytes from 199.250.222.56: seq=2 ttl=46 time=112.192 ms
    64 bytes from 199.250.222.56: seq=3 ttl=46 time=111.558 ms
    --- tvdb.com ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 0% packet loss
    round-trip min/avg/max = 111.558/111.783/112.192 ms

i have also checked the status of TMDB api and it is working.
    TMDB Service Status

Nothing wrong with those pings. TVDB is a bit long, but no packet drop.

Checked for duplicate IP addresses? This sort of thing can be symptomatic of that - as I said, 3 generations of device doing the same thing neither points to the devices or their firmware, but a network issue.

Can’t be much help atm - I’m afk and afz (away from Zidoo :) )

How can i check for dublicate ip adresses?
I have run network scanner and cant see any dublicates there or do you mean another way?

I tried to ensure that all sources are mapped using only IP addresses and not NetBIOS names. I've updated all sources to use static IPs.
However, there was no improvement in performance still slow to access all services.

I also ran checks using a network scanner and look at the ARP-table, and I couldn't find any duplicate or similar IP addresses.

weird one - duplicate IP was just an idea because when it happens it can slow everything down to a snails pace and it’s something I’m always wary of because I have a very large network (for a home one at least).

Really got no idea what’s going on here - maybe DNS? Try using Google (8.8.8.8) or One DNS (1.1.1.1) which is usually the fastest.
